SYNC3 apim FCIM problem

Hello everyone,

I’m new here and I am looking for some technical insight regarding a SYNC 3 retrofit I’ve just completed on my 2014 Fiesta.

Everything is up and running perfectly, except for the physical radio buttons on the front bezel. The panel has a LIN output which I properly routed to Pin 44 on the SYNC 3 APIM connector. I also updated the As-Built configuration to enable the front control bezel (FCIM), but unfortunately, the buttons remain completely unresponsive.

Are these older Mk7.5 button panels fundamentally incompatible with the SYNC 3 APIM, or am I missing something?

Any help or advice from anyone who has successfully bypassed this issue would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Not missing anything, they use CANBUS, not LIN. You might have to replace the screen and/or FCIM. I don’t know if there is an answer for a 2014 vehicle. Is that the original screen?

In the end, I replaced the FCIM with a compatible one and connected it to pin 44 of the APIM, and everything started working correctly.

The car originally came with SYNC 1 and this is a retrofit, but I still have two issues:

  1. Navigation is inaccurate. While driving, the position starts drifting and it looks like I’m flying over fields and buildings instead of following the roads.

  2. Speech recognition works, but I can’t hear any voice assistant responses for some reason.

If you could help me solve either of these problems, I’d really appreciate it.

I’m not sure about the generations of Fiestas, but if you look for a 2016 with Sync 3 and use that data to fill into 7D0-05 and -06 it might solve the issues. This is the vehicle data that the nav needs to know how to navigate correctly.
