That’s almost as dumb as BMW charging you extra to switch on the heated steering wheel that was already fitted in the vehicle.

Feature changes in some cases I get (eg GM enabling remote start on a car, part of the cost was for trading in the fobs), Mazda charging me for it and it requiring the equivalent of FordPass (even with the fob) to work and being told that if the app is ever discontinued or I’m out of data coverage it won’t work I don’t (remember when Ford killed support for health & Sync Destinations with MFT).
Speaking of Ford Pass have you tried the new version? IT SUCKS! it makes it so all the retrofit TCU’s will not longer show location also.
It actually looks like the new version is having some backend issues.
The current release for me showed “placeholder for map” on the screen on both my 2018, the daughter’s 2020 and a guy at work’s 2021 for about 3 days last week.
It shows the map with the correct location now, it is slower doing this that the “old” version.
One other bug deals with shared access, if you are the primary it shows the vehicle service history including an owner entries, if you are secondary it only shows dealer service entries.
