I recently bought a 2018 Ford Fiesta SEL 1.6 Brazilian model with Sync3.
The problem I’m experiencing is that Sync3 randomly turns on. Normally, it never turns on, but suddenly, for no apparent reason, it powers up.
I believe it’s a bad APIM, but I’d like to be sure about that. I’ve already tried removing the fuse, but that didn’t work.
I did a hard reset once when it turned on, but it didn’t help either.
Could you guide me on whether there’s any way to repair it?
If not, can you help me with the details for replacing it with a functioning one?
Yes, I’ve already ruled out any possibility of it being an electrical issue.
I’m looking to replace the APIM, but honestly, I’m afraid it might happen again.
I’m sending photos of the Sync3 version as well as the APIM model.
Do you have Forscan and an adapter?.
That’s the assembly PN, not the APIM’s.
It’s odd that it starts with J and has a date from 2017, but maybe assemblies have a different nomenclature…
APIMs have 14G371 as part of the part number…
You can get a J or K series, do not get an L one since it’s MY20. You can check our db for reference → SYNC 3 APIM Hardware Database - CyanLabs , because there are some J series that are MY20 since they are replacement units. Always check the sticker on the back and on the db, I do not recommend getting MY20 hardware. You can’t reformat them with Syn3Updater.
The storage will depend on the vehicle having nav or not.
