UPDATED/FIXED F13 EU MAPS RELEASED

First of all, I had Sync 3 as built but for my car latest version for download (officially) from Ford repository is 3.0.xxxxx, not 3.4.xxxxx. I only upgraded Sync 3 from version 2.3.17109 to 3.4.23188 manually.

Anyway, my question is still valid - is Sync 3 (version 3.4.23188) downloading this particular F14 map version automatically through official Ford channels or not? (Through WiFi or when checking VIN on ford.com)

Just a suggestion: let it go.

I know what you mean, there’s no need to repeat the same thing multiple times. The answer you are looking for is not here, in fact most of the people that are here have parted ways with Ford’s update path, so how could we know what Ford is doing?.

Google is you friend, go look into Ford sites or forums. Maybe you will find something there.

All we can say is the files are on Ford’s servers.

as long as the downloads are named correctly, in the correct folder and not corrupt (match checksum) yes

If your car came with Sync3 system pre-installed, did it come with navigation enabled? As long as it did and Ford do not charge for map updates then I would expect the system to still allow you to download / install maps via any of the official supported channels. Having said that do Ford charge a subscription for this? They have always charged for map updates in the past so no reason to believe they do for Sync3 and if you have not maintained this, perhaps this explains why none of the automatic / Ford official channels are working.

Looks like your only option is to use Cyanlabs or don’t upgrade your maps and use Android Auto / Apple CarPlay

I upgraded maps to F14 (or still F13 as I doubt it’s full F14) using Syn3 updater already. But wanted to know if anyone owning car that came with Sync 3 (3.4 or a least higher than 3.0 pre-installed) downloaded successfuly F14 maps from official Ford sources (WiFi or manually downloaded from here after entering VIN https://www.ford.com/support/sync-maps-updates/) and if after upgrade Sync 3 is still showing F13 (same as through Syn3 updater) or is showing F14. Or… is not automatically updating (not available to download) at all as this update is still not ā€œfully publishedā€ and will come over next months - don’t know… trying to understand what has happend

And you still do not let it go… You are a new user, all your 5 messages are related TO THE SAME THING SAYING THE SAME THINGS…

I get your question, you won’t find an answer here at the moment… It almost seems like you do not (or do not want to) understand…

Maybe the server was busy just as you were downloading. I got up and running in minutes but i’m on a 350MB connection feeding an 18 Core (36 threads) XEON system with M.2 drives and 64GB of DDR4 memory.

Maybe you don’t know the answer (not asking you anymore). smjohns is discussing with me so my comments are to him. Also maybe others from this forum know it / tried to do it. Cheers :clinking_beer_mugs:

No one knows at the moment, otherwise someone would have already answered you… that’s what you are not understanding…

So let me put it this way: your question is now ā€œin the openā€ and pending, if anyone knows they will answer you.

There’s no need to ask (spam) the same thing multiple times, just be patient.

Not spamming, just rephrasing as I was wrongly understood about equpment I have or I get answers on questions I was not asking. But let’s stop here with that. Now all is clear.

It’s all good. If you come across an answer outside Cyanlabs, please share it here so that others have access to that information as well.

As @SaNdMaN suggested, we don’t have the answer. This site is to help support people keep their Sync3 systems up to date as Ford are pretty shocking at doing this. Whilst Sync3 offers over the air updates, this is a bit of a pointless feature considering the amount of data that needs to be downloaded and the amount of time the upgrade process takes. As such this is why they mainly push users via their website and USB upgrades. Re the issue with the Fnn being incorrect, this has happened before with Sync2 map upgrades and a mistake Ford are more than capable of making. One thing I do know is that with in car navigation systems, map updates are always mega slow to pick up road changes and instead they tend to focus on POI and other background data changes as this is where they get most of their revenue stream from, with companies paying to be searchable.

With this in mind, you have a few options. Stay on whatever map you are currently and wait to see if Ford do release a free upgrade. Use the F14 version available via CyanLabs and ignore the fact the version code is wrong. Or do what most people do and simply your phone mapping. I am only trying the map upgrade so I see the process in action and get a better understanding of Sync3.

Aye definitely a bit weird. My updates are coming down (8 to go) via Chrome. My internet is 500mb but their service is definitely throttling me to a now consistent (circa) 250KB/s. Hey….I can be patient now I know the files are coming down one by one  . I am not sure my poor Surface Pro 4 is the cause…especially as I had to brute force W11 on it because the CPU was apparently not compatible. Everything else seems to be running ok and internet speeds to other sites are as per my broadband.

Can i install F14 maps on Ford Kuga 2022 with software version 3.4.23188? Thanks

You should be able to. Have you checked the official Ford channels first? Ford may still be issuing updates for your car via their website as it is still quite new?

I just get official information from Ford support that F14 EU maps are NOT offcially released yet . It will happen most probably in November. Now it’s not possible to download it through Ford account (by VIN) for end user. ā€œDownload Maps Updateā€ button is misleading what is ā€œoffciallyā€ a bug that will be fixed once F14 will be released. Support is sending via e-mail, links to download F13 maps instead. Same situation with ā€œBrowse for Log Fileā€ button. This is not working too what Ford support confirmed.

this isn’t anything new, the files are always live months before release.

So you’re saying that these files will be officially called F14 without any changes, no roads network updates comparing to F13 (as it looks like network is the same as eF13) and published as it is now?

i was not able to update via Ford website. i would love to update to F14 maps but it says its only compatible for the models before 2020?

WARNING!

THIS WILL NOT WORK ON CARS MANUFACTURED ON OR AFTER 2020 (MY20), IT WILL ā€œBRICKā€ YOUR UNIT.

I think that only applies to the manual USB creation method. If you use the Syn3Updater then it will step you through the process and covers both pre and post 2020 versions. It also includes a tool you can use to check whether your unit is pre or post MY20. Also if your Sync3 unit is already running the latest OS, then you can just prepare the USB stick to update the maps only, which is the route I am taking
