I have Sync3 in my 2022 EcoSport - I purchased the 8” screen unit and installed it. When I turn it on I get a full size “FORD” then it goes back to the 4” display in the upper left corner of the screen. All the posts I found have instructions for everyone but the average person that is doing this for the first time. Nothing black and white how to get my Sync3 to recognize the new screen.
I need laymans terms and step by step directions. I downloaded FORScan to my lab top but don’t know what to do with it and I am just lost. Now the unit just sits on AM radio with the old small display in the corner. Please help.
Didn’t you think it was important to mention which Sync3 version the unit is running?.
I apologize, this is the first time that I’m doing this and I was directed to this thread. I don’t know what I need. All I know is I purchased the OEM unit, had it installed, all of the upgraded software was done at the dealership and it’s still only showing the 4-in screen in the upper left corner. Corner. As soon as I get home I will find a way to get that number for you and post it. I do appreciate your time however..
That’s fine, I do not need any part number, just the Sync3 version. You can look for it in the About Sync3 screen, if you can’t access that you will need to create and run the interrogator log against the unit. But, step by step…
You may be new to this, but you can’t expect others to assume you do not know anything about your infotainment system (not even the Sync3 version) if you just performed a major upgrade to it ![]()
Anyways, get the current version the unit is running and we will take it from there.
Ok, it’s on 3.4.
You only need to install NU5T-14G381-AD, which is 3.4.23188 for 8 inches screens.
Do you know how to install it?, it’s a normal Ford install/update.
Ok. No I do not but I’m sure I can make it happen with some directions.
Get a proper/decent USB pendrive (none of those cheap/souvenir ones).
Format it as exFAT, then download NU5T-14G381-AD and it’s autoinstall .lst file.
Create a folder called SyncMyRide in the root of your USB Drive, then copy the NU5T-14G381-AD file (untouched, as downloaded) to the folder and copy the autoinstall.lst file to the USB’s root.
That’s it, that’s your installation USB, go to the vehicle and plug it in.
That seems totally doable!
Just one more question, what do you consider to be the " root" drive?
Would it be easier to use an OHP FORscan? My friend says he has one but has never used it.
Root is the topmost directory structure. In Windows it would display something like C:\ for the root of drive C.
Ok fantastic. I will let you know how I fare out.
Ok I got a USB drive, formatted to exFAT, downloaded the NU5T-14G381-AD and the autoinstall file. I installed it to my 2022 Ford Ecosport 8inch screen with Sync3. The FORD screen came up when it was finished but now I just have an illuminated blank screen ![]()

You only changed the screen from 4 to 8 inches, right?.
About the unit, it’s operational (sound, USB ports powered up, backup camera working) but with a black screen?.
Do you have forscan and an adapter?.
I did more research and found that holding the power and forward buttons to reset the unit fixture it. Thank you for all your help with this. I am in good working order ![]()
Awesome news, that’s good to hear, good call.
Sometimes Sync3 gets confused but eventually sorts itself out, that was going to be one of my recommendations, the other one being disconnecting the battery overnight to force a module cold restart.
Anyways, enjoy it.
Keep in mind that since you have parted ways from Ford OEM/stock status, you must disable automatic updates. To Ford’s eyes your vehicle has and will always have a 4’’ screen, so if a new update is pushed your way it’s going to be the 4’’ variant.
Auto updates are off ![]()
