Upgrading USB hub

With having my head unit updated to latest sync, it is my understanding that it is now able to utilize Apple CarPlay. But you have to upgrade the usb hub. Have a 2016 MKX. From what it looks like, this part number - HU5Z-19A387-A- is universal with ford/Lincoln cars and just plug and play. Has anyone performed this upgrade?
