Hello, first time here, so I’m sorry in advance if I am making any mistake in the creation of this topic. I currently own a 2023 MK8.5 fiesta, which has a sync2.5 ACM, and no APIM, and am interesting in attempting to retrofit a sync3 APIM and ACM. Doing a bit of research I am considering a KU5T-14G371-GDE APIM and a H1BT-18C815-VV ACM combo, as I have that available at what appears to be a reasonable price. But I am faced with a couple of questions I haven’t been easily able to figure out by myself.
First is the wiring, as the sync2.5 system has a 32 pin connector, and the sync3 one has a 52 pin connector, and my question is if it’s easier to get a harness from a sync3 vehicle, of if it would be easier to repin the connector.
Second is where the APIM would even be attached, and how it’s connections would be made, as from research it would usually be behind the instrument cluster, which would mean, especially for the screen which would now be connected to the APIM and not the ACM, longer cables?
Finally, I’ve been some posts about people achieving this retrofit, but never going into details about the process behind it, so if they exist, it would be hugely helpful if I could be redirected to cases of people documenting this retrofit.
Opcionally it would also be pretty neat if it was possible to also install a TCU to enable stuff like FordPass, as having vehicle tracking would be pretty useful in case the car was ever stolen (or I just lost it in a parking lot
) but it would most likely only be a very “in the future“ next step.
