'18 Mustang, Sync 3.0 - Can I update maps with Cyanlabs updater, without updating Sync?

Sorry if I’m posting in the wrong place but the layout of this site is kind of confusing to me. I’m interested in using the CyanLabs Syn3 updater to install updated navigation maps on my 2018 Mustang with Sync 3.0 and Navigation (I don’t have the Sync build number right now but it’s in the range of 17XXX). I don’t really want to upgrade Sync, except that I understand that some navigation files only work with certain versions of Sync. Can the CyanLabs updater install recent-ish maps that are compatible with my old version of Sync 3.0, without me changing my version of Sync? If so, it would be handy if someone could point me to any step by step information on this. Thank you.

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: OEM

Old SYNC Version: 3.0.17276

New SYNC Version: 3.0.17276

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
N/A

Update Method: Official Ford

No, you can’t: Syn3updater only works with a single 3.3 and 3.4s, and maps are not 3.0 compatible…
You could install maps on 3.0 for NA but you will require a license…
You can take this guide as reference → Tutorial: Sync 3.0.20204 with 2020 NA2.20 Map Installation

Your understanding is correct. As @SaNdMaN said you can only instal the maps supplied by Ford (at a cost) for your current sync version.
If you wish to get the latest maps NA 2.23 you would need to upgrade with Cyanlabs to a later sync version, the latest being 3.4.23188.

Apart from the other advice given if you wish to go down a version upgrade track with new maps with Cyanlabs I suggest you read the link below and follow the video top left to the letter especially the part about not removing the flash drive early. The updater link is further down on the left.

Again it is important to master reset after the installation regardless of what you decide.
