HI SaNdMaN - much appreciate your response! I won’t have access to my C-Max for the next week or so - so I will try to figure out how to run the interrogator log when I get my sweet-Max back again. (The links I am seeing on the site go to ImageryX or FAST or a Chrome Browser extension - or other site which do not look related to SYN3UPDATER. I am on a Windows 10 computer - so thank you again.) will follow up again when I can get in my ride. THANKS.
Thanks Sandman and Warlock! I followed the directions as noted and was able to update my SYNC version back to 2.2 - and then up to 3.0.2! I think this also cleared the problem I had with the MYKEY feature which previously would not allow me to remove the FORDMYKEY setting.
So now - I am able to use CARPLAY when I plug in my phone, I can listen to the radio at a level or # 14 when I would like to jam out a bit - and can drive + 80 MPH if traffic situation requires.
Next up is to get a wireless CARPLAY adapter.
Is there any reason or advantage to update the SYNC system to the next version - 3.4?
All 3.4 is going to do is give you a different look, you may not be able to get 3.4.23188 stable and have to use 3.4.21265 or 3.4.21194 instead. Basically what you’re doing in PC terms is installing Win11 on Win7 hardware, things may or may not work depending on compatibility with other modules in the car.
Keep in mind that once you go to 3.4 you CANNOT revert back to a 3.0 build if you have problems
About 3.4, it’s a new and more modern UI and native maps… There are a few improvements and new features over 3.0 (like accessing the phone’s assistant), but nothing major if you will use CP.
In my case, I’m still running 3.0 with maps from 2015/16… Why?, I hardly use Sync3 anymore, I’ve also bought a wireless android auto adapter (Moto MA-1) and I see the native Sync3 UI for about 20-30 seconds then it switches to Android Auto…
