2016 Ford C-Max Energi with SYNC3 - Need to get version 3.4 installed

Recently got a 2016 Ford C-Max Energi and has SYNC3 Version 1.015139.

I replaced the original USB Hub (#GC3T-14F014-BB) with the new CARPLAY compatible USB Hub (Ford Part # HC3Z-19A387-F purchased from a Ford Dealer).

Then I tried to update my SYNC3 version 1.0.15139 with the files from the Ford Owner site for version 3.0.2329.

It did not work, but the car screen now says it is SYNC3 Version 3.

However, no CARPLAY screen and phone does not GET RECOGNIZED using a good cord to the new USB Hub.

I have been looking throughout the CYNLABS site for the correct file(s) (SYN3UPDATER) to load onto an exfat formatted jump drive.

I am just getting AD pop-ups every time I click on any of the SYN3UPDATER links.

Can I get the url of the SYN3UPDATER Tool download site?

Thanks.

Before moving forward, create and run the interrogator log against the unit, share the xml with us.

About a link, you can download it from here → Syn3 Updater - CyanLabs , but there’s no direct link.

HI SaNdMaN - much appreciate your response! I won’t have access to my C-Max for the next week or so - so I will try to figure out how to run the interrogator log when I get my sweet-Max back again. (The links I am seeing on the site go to ImageryX or FAST or a Chrome Browser extension - or other site which do not look related to SYN3UPDATER. I am on a Windows 10 computer - so thank you again.) will follow up again when I can get in my ride. THANKS.

You need to downgrade to 2.2.17011 first and then do the upgrade to 3.0.23219.
Here you go…

Thanks Sandman and Warlock! I followed the directions as noted and was able to update my SYNC version back to 2.2 - and then up to 3.0.2! I think this also cleared the problem I had with the MYKEY feature which previously would not allow me to remove the FORDMYKEY setting.

So now - I am able to use CARPLAY when I plug in my phone, I can listen to the radio at a level or # 14 when I would like to jam out a bit - and can drive + 80 MPH if traffic situation requires.

Next up is to get a wireless CARPLAY adapter.

Is there any reason or advantage to update the SYNC system to the next version - 3.4?

Thanks for your help - greatly appreciated!

All 3.4 is going to do is give you a different look, you may not be able to get 3.4.23188 stable and have to use 3.4.21265 or 3.4.21194 instead. Basically what you’re doing in PC terms is installing Win11 on Win7 hardware, things may or may not work depending on compatibility with other modules in the car.

Keep in mind that once you go to 3.4 you CANNOT revert back to a 3.0 build if you have problems

Good that you made it work.

About 3.4, it’s a new and more modern UI and native maps… There are a few improvements and new features over 3.0 (like accessing the phone’s assistant), but nothing major if you will use CP.

In my case, I’m still running 3.0 with maps from 2015/16… Why?, I hardly use Sync3 anymore, I’ve also bought a wireless android auto adapter (Moto MA-1) and I see the native Sync3 UI for about 20-30 seconds then it switches to Android Auto…

So I do not care not having 3.4 or newer maps…
