2018 4 in. sync 3 black after attempted upgrade and downgrade

started at 2.3.17118 - succes fully upgraded to 3.4 ( latest) only to realise that my screen is 4 in ( Duh), and no touch. try to downgrade using reformat to 3.3.1905 and I am stuck.

You cannot go back to Sync 3.0 from Sync 3.3/3.4. However, you have 2 options:

1. install an 8" screen. (Dependent on the APIM model and vehicle, this can be costly.)
2. Load the 4" version of Sync 3.4. The latest available is NU5T-14G381-BB 424Mb Sync3 v3.4.22251 08.09.2022. You cannot use the Syn3 Updater, you will need to do this manually.

This will be the contents of your autoinstall.lst file:

Place the NU5T-14G381-BB file in the SyncMyRide folder on the USB drive.

Insert the USB drive in the car, the message should appear it is upgrading. It should take less than 15 minutes.

If the installation fails to load, you will likely need to remove Gracenotes to make room for Sync 3.4. You can do this with Syn3 Updater or following the tutorial.

Well, it seems that the reformat with 3.3.19052 did work at least partially. Even if I had a black screen I could see activity on the usb drive . I let it go for half an hour ( the previous update to 3.4 took 11 minutes). I still had a black screen, forced a reset ( ON + Seek) and then forgot about it because I had some places to go. At some point I realized that the unit was back on, and all the functions are there but it is in black and white instead of black and blue. The only odd thing I can see is grace note being at 1.1.1.2323 instead of 1.1.1.1332 as per the package Dunno if that is an issue or not but sync went from 2.3.17118 to 3.3.19052 and does not seem to complain. And My daugther can have her music so great success . Thanks for the help, the work and the documentation. Just a note in case it’s not just me being completely blind, the 4 in. VS 8 in. screen is not obvious to catch in the database.
