2018 f150 with sync 3 Over-Updated

I accidentally updated my sync 3 on my f150 XLT 2018 to version 3.4 whenever the latest it supports is V3.0 but im getting errors whenever I try to install my previous version of 2.3. Im unable to navigate on the screen as its the smaller one which the GUI doesnt fit on it, so im unable to get to the settings, not only that but the arrow buttons no longer work.

Manually install the 4’’ version, which is NU5T-14G381-BB (Sync3 v3.4.22251).
Syn3updater does not work with 4’’ variants.

Whenever I plug the usb in i get this error.

Lastly, i ended the file with .GZ and got a package error

Did you edit the autoinstal.lst file?

I did not, just downloaded it straight from the link

The correct filename is NU5T-14G381-BB_1665526155000.TAR.GZ

You shouldn’t have edited the extension at all nor did you need to.

Okay thanks, i redownloaded it and it was the right file, it updated my unit but now ut went to a black screen, after reset and all, back up can still works though

Perform a soft reset

Did that, boots back up to a black screen. I think its because my sync 3 unit on a 2018 doesnt support past v3.0

What did you do exactly?.

You were running an 8’’ sync3 3.4 version before, that’s not it…

Other than disconnecting the module from the power to let it really reboot from scratch, you will need to get forscan and an adapter.

If the backup camera works it means the unit is operational but having issues displaying the theme.

Could I pull the fuse to see if that would also reboot from scratch?

Can you answer the questions?

Did exactly as instructed, (formatted…etc)downloaded the file onto the drive, inserted it, and it worked, it said it downloaded it successfully and would do a restart, it restarted and never truly came back on

I will ask a very simple question, I expect a very simple answer.
You said you performed a “soft reset”, my question is/was:

Yes, leave it without power for a while (15-30 minutes).
If that fails, you will need to get an adapter and forscan to check some values.

did not realize thats what you were referring to, my apologies. I held the audio power button and the forward/skip for 10 seconds, then the ford logo came on and it power cycled to a black screen

Thanks, that’s in fact what I meant by soft reset, so that did not help…

It’s likely a configuration issue, but I cannot explain why the 8 inch version was shown correctly though… But again, the unit is operational, we need to dig deeper into the configuration and for that you need an adapter and forscan

ah, so I should revive this thread or create a new one whenever I get the forscan adapter

We can leave this thread open…
There’s a small chance it will get sorted out on its own though…

Is there a 4” version of the v2.3, i’m going to try and see if i can revert back to the original version

I’m sure you read the big red warnings that inform the users they can’t go back to 2.x
