2018 Ford Escape Australia updates

should a pre-MY20 KU5T-14G371-EDE APIM currently on Ford 3.4.23188:

keep 3.4.23188 during a 2.23 ANZ reformat, or
be upgraded to 3.4.26057 as part of the process.

SYNC Region: ANZ

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: OEM

Old SYNC Version: 3.3

New SYNC Version: 3.4.23188

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
no error

Update Method: Official Ford

Whatever the tool is fine. If you upgrade maps as well, a reformat is needed for ANZ. If not, just an autoinstall.

Syn3 Updater has automatically selected Apps 3.4.26057 while I’m currently on Ford 3.4.23188. Should I leave it like this?

Nothing is selected automatically… I suggest you read → Basic Usage - CyanLabs

Update:

The reformat completed successfully and I received the green screen saying “Installation complete. Please remove USB.” I waited about 10 minutes before removing the USB, then the APIM rebooted normally.

SYNC has updated successfully to 3.4.26057 and everything else appears to be working correctly.

However, navigation no longer works. As soon as I press the Navigation button (or immediately after startup), I get:

“Navigation malfunction. Navigation is not functioning properly. Please visit your dealer for service.”

Under About SYNC, the Navigation Maps Version is blank, although Gracenotes is installed and the USB preparation completed without any download or validation errors.

Has anyone seen this before? Is there a recovery procedure, or does this indicate the maps failed to install or register correctly?

Update: Good news. After leaving the vehicle and returning later, the navigation started working normally. The Maps Version now shows ANZ 2.23, GPS is working, address search and route guidance are all functioning correctly. It appears the APIM needed additional time after the reformat to complete initialization. Thanks for the help.

The last step was to perform a master reset, so do that.
