2019 F250 SYNC3 upgrade, no vehicle or reverse sensors showing while in reverse

A couple years ago I did a SYNC3 upgrade to the 8" screen and everything works perfectly except for when in reverse. The vehicle icon with the 4 reverse sensors zones does not show up.

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Non Nav

Manufacturer Year: Unknown

Install Type: Retrofit

Old SYNC Version: 1.1

New SYNC Version: 3.4

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
No

Update Method: Official Ford

Look at the PDA setting in 7D0-01-01 using FORScan. Probably needs to be turned on.

PDA is that the same as PAM module?

No but related.
PDA is the parking distance architecture. Fancy name for reverse assist.
In the apim there is an adjustment to enable it in 7D0-01-01

Its currently 022A 0402 000B

I enabled Parking Assistance to “Rear Park Distance Control” (PDC), there was no change, the vehicle icon and sensor aid didn’t appear. I even did a APIM reboot afterwards.

APIM needed 7D0-01-01 changed to 0A2A 0402 0013, it was set ar 022A 0402 0013, it now works perfectly!

That’ll do it…

Curious as to why changing the plain English section didn’t work, oh well.

The simple menu is not quite as specific as the asbuilt configuration section in FORScan, unfortunately. This is due to the complexity of the data coding. Every byte change on an address line in Sync affects a combination of 8 seperate values for up to 8 different functions. Decoding this data can be a bit complex and sometimes the Ford data is repetative within a single line of code. In the simple menu this can cause errors in which you see this effect that nothing seems to change. It’s not perfect, but is useful. Hope that helped…
