I was in the same situation as you, I bought an APIM on the internet too. I upgraded it in downgrade mode, when it was rebooting, the screen goes black, but at that time Bluetooth was still works, and then it became bricked. But the USB interface can charge the phone. I guess it can’t be formatted by a formatter tool. It can only be upgraded through automatic installation mode. Now I sent it to the seller to repair it.
Adjust the settings of Syn3 Updater, disable MY20 protection, select autoinstall for installation method, and then apply the settings. At this time, the autoinstall.lst file does not have a description of the REFORMAT TOOL 1u5t-14g386-cb.tar.gz. This may be safe.
thanks for all your input. So appreciated. Do you have any clue how to get to the APIM? I assume it is behind the screen??
Usually, it is mounted to the back of the FDIM(Screen). However, in your case with the 10" I am not sure where they put it. I would guess it is behind it somewhere in the most difficult spot to get to.
I am scouring every dark corner of the Internet and nobody knows!!! I read it could be behind the ACM on justanswer, but I don’t know how reliable that is and also can’t find any resources on how to remove that!
Pay Ford the $21 for 72 hours of Oasis and you will get more than you ever wanted here…
@dennisholland , do you have a picture of the APIM?
@peppinoesposito @shuai , same question for you guys. Do you have a picture of the APIM?, we are interested in the sticker that comes with it… specifically, the manufacture date…
Until now, all references for APIM JL7T-14G371-KGB are located here on this thread.
The seller tore off the sticker,But he fixed it.the APIM works again. He took down the original screen, connected another screen, and upgraded the APIM through the downgrade mode successfully. Then he connected the original screen back
it’s the only picture I can provide. The back of APIM is bare.and now my build is 3.4.23188.
This is a picture sent to me by the seller during the repair process. Obviously, this is not my screen.
The second picture is the reformat tool, so in this case that APIM is not MY20 but the screen you used is.
Honestly i’m not even convinced this is a geniune FoMoCo item currently no one seems to be able to provide a picture of the official ford label.
Thank you for the feedback.
I wonder why did he do that… The sticker on the APIM is not easy to remove, and it’s the single thing that can proof it’s authenticity… It’s odd, but I’m sure he had his reasons…
This is quite interesting… If that’s the case, that points to a MY20 screen, which is not supported by the reformat tool either…
There’s no information for that APIM model, so we are still gathering information on this model.
So again, thank you.
These two photos were taken when I sent them to the seller. This is indeed true. The seller told me that the 4th generation high-definition screen does not support the reformat tool.
Why would they remove the label, dodgy as anything
That APIM is a Chinese hack job. The sticker removal and the Chinese text in the details screen are dead giveaways to this.
That’s just the chinese language set in SYNC is it not?, the sticker removal however is odd
Car is with Ford atm. They ran a check on the APIM and it came back faulty. It’s being replaced free of charge.
When I get it back, I’ll pull the APIM and snap a photo of the back of it.
Lol!, you are lucky man…
Ok, if you can gather some images it would be great, the failing APIM is the one we are interested in, but any photo you can get will work… And it will help you decide what to do next once your system is up and running again …
Thanks.
Do not disable MY20 protection if you have a MY20, what part of that makes any sense to you? as you are also changing the install mode this will work but is not the recommended way.
ENABLE MY20 Protection then there is no need to change install mode.
Please be sure that the information you are providing is correct, wrong information will result in more bricks.
I’m assuming you are the OP, on a completely different account for some reason? otherwise your reply makes no sense.
Not OP. I just had the same APIM module as a replacement that OP has. My apologies for hijacking the thread.
