2019 Sync 3.4 22251 Issues- Trying to Upgrade

I have read quite a bit over the past few days after my Sync has been glitchy and unresponsive. I have tried a master reset but it gets hung up on the continue button. So I end up doing a soft reset a few times a day. I upgraded to 3.4 in November 2022. I had my battery recently replaced by Ford under warranty and ever since then I have had issues. I followed all the directions to upgrade to 23188. I chose to keep the existing maps and not upgrade those. When I insert the USB into my truck I instantly get the error message INSTL_ERR12. I pulled it out and then put it into the other USB and it said install complete instantly. I know it didn’t install anything and still cannot do a mater reset. Here is my question among other suggestions you can offer- should I be editing the advanced options box and uncheck the MY20 Protection box and then be choosing auto install in the drop down menu? I have a 2019.

I read through that before but didn’t get that error message at all so I was hesitant to dive too deep into it. I’m new to all of this so am also nervous to start messing around with the coding (if that’s what needs to be done)

True, it’s not mentioned there, but other symptoms are like yours, since build 22251 is bugged (specially for car play users).

Have you ran an interrogator log? Check for an XML on the USB, or create and run it against the unit.

When I plugged in the USB with the interrogator log, I got the same message INTSL_ERR12

Clear sign that the unit has the rwdata partition full.
All known methods are described in detail in the guide marked as solution, if none of those work, we do not have anything else to suggest.

Another possibility is that the unit has some kind of hardware issue. You mentioned your battery was recently changed, could that have something to do with hardware failure?, hard to say…

Either way, if it’s software based you need to follow the guide, if it’s hardware based there’s not much to do about it…
