2020 APIM/Screen and 2020 ACM Compatibility

Finally had a chance to play with this. It took at least 2 tries of changing the value to “4” and forcing the last 4 digits to 0EFF. It eventually worked. Maybe the APIM wasn’t resetting or something (I turn key off, open door, and wait until the screen goes black).

I found this useful: Look at the gauges on the IPC. When they dip down, if they do, that is when the systems have shut down…most Ford vehicles will do that.

I saw on one of the as-built spreadsheets out there (I think an F150 or maybe Explorer one) that you can reboot the APIM with (2) keys, like Eject+FF (or next track). I have a 2020 FCIM now though so no eject button… I even used FORScan to reboot the APIM too.

Related to shutdown, well, the opposite, with Sync 3, the system turns on just by opening the car door. Is that to speed up having it up and running ? Kinda unusual that it does that, IMO. I’m almost positive Sync 2 didn’t do this. Can it be changed to not power on until the car is started or put in Accessory mode ?

So Eject and FF> (Next Track) will get you into the APIM menus, like IVSU, etc. Power and FF> will reboot the APIM. Both of these are hold for 8 seconds. There is another option, FF> on the steering wheel and FF> on the FCIM will will get you into the APIM menus, like IVSU, etc. OK the steering wheel and FF> will reboot the APIM. Both of these are hold for 8 seconds. I have not tested these, since the above works for me. Different vehicles have different options, but these are the ones I have seen documented.

Sync is always on, waiting for you. It’s like a dog waiting for you to come home.

Try this. I was on vacation and did not have my paperwork with me. ACM C240B 6 and 19 to APIM 51 and 52. This may correct your issue. See attached.

6-VMEF7(+) to 51
19-VMEF8(-) to 52

They are wired originally. Different colors but wired. You can see the new ones also on the APIM connector and ACM…They are all checked for continuity and polarity. The colors differ on each ends due to reusing pins.

Purple and Green for the new circuit.

Existing from 51/52 on APIM.

51/52 Yellow and White in foreground, 28/29 middle of connector, White and Brown

I think the next thing I’ll do is use your APIM asbuilt on mine and see if the ACM will wake up. I know it will not be right for the APIM, but maybe there is a combination of settings…
The ACM will not turn on or show up on the buss, so nothing there to adjust until that happens.

What setting controls displaying the radio presets (AM, FM, and Sirius) ? I downloaded the as-built APIM values from the donor car that I got the APIM from and they were different than what FORScan was showing. I hand-entered the values that differed (less than half) and everything is working except for the display of the preset touch buttons as well as the “# of pages of presets” menu. With my old values, I don’t even have this menu but with the 2020 donor settings, the menu appears. It gives me the choice of 1, 2, or 3 pages but it ignores whatever you choose and remains on “2”.

This is what appears on the screen:

Here are the menus showing the preset pages:

I select “3” but it stays on “2”:

I have a backup of the settings that work for displaying the radio presets that I can revert to. I still want to figure out what’s different / wrong. Here’s the as-built settings that are currently loaded (and causes the presets to not display):

Haha, I say to research these settings in my Notes file and wonder if it’s this one:

7D0-08-02: ####-##X#-####

Mine is set to “4” or (9) presets per page. I wonder if there’s an incompatibility between this setting of “9” and my 2014 ACM ? Previously, the APIM was showing (6) presets. I guess the simplest thing to do is change the value to “0” for (6) presets.

The ACM needs to align with the APIM on number of presets, etc. I would think that setting this back to ‘0’ would fix it.

The 7D0-08-xx settings are function settings, an extension of the APIM settings. These change things…
The 7D0-09-xx settings are all feature sets that allow the item to be controlled thru the center stack menus like door locks, etc. These are for the most part duplicate control surfaces for the vehicle features. This must be turn on to see them:
7D0-09-02 xxxx xxxx x*xx
Just change it to ‘1’.

Certainly makes sense, especially as the ACM as-built data stores the presets. Any idea if a '14 ACM is limited to 6, 9, etc presets ? I probably shouldn’t concern myself too much with this as (6) (per page ??) was sufficient before anyway. Once I reset it to (6) and it fixes it, I’m curious if I can then change it to the other numbers (5, 9, ?). Only one way to find out ! Something tells me it won’t work though…

Yes, my note is kinda old. I’ve enabled the window control, DRL and remote start options inside Sync3 already. There are a few other settings other people have referred to (easy entry/exit and at least one other) but our car doesn’t support the function so no point having a ‘dead’ item listed in the menu. I have 7D0-09-01 set to

0000 0E00 F8E1

currently. What are you saying “1” in position (10) does ?

The 2014 ACM will do 6 or 10 presets.
6 presets x3 pages for 8" screen equipped Sync.
10 presets for the 4" display, as these are hard buttons on the FDCIM panel.

It just turns on the ability to see and program the options. You can use other values there as long as it turns on the center stack menu.

Frustrating that this isn’t making sense… The APIM setting is

7D0-08-02 0000 0700 1038

and the ACM is

727-01-01 1800 3800 0080

That should be (6) presets set in APIM and ACM. The “3” value in the ACM is the factory as-built for our car. FWIW, the factory as-built value for the APIM is 0740 instead of 0700…

I restored a working APIM as-built to get the presets (6, by the way) back so now I want to compare the two files…

You don’t have Sony sound system? That value would make sense if not. The speaker detection sensing is turned off with the Sony system in the ACM and enabled in the added DSP.

As far as the APIM value at 7D0-08-02 xxxx 0740 xxxx, this value is really irrelevant with a 2014 vehicle unless the hardware is upgraded, I think.

The factory value is for the 2020 donor vehicle? What vehicle and sound system?

Correct, no Sony system. So “3” is good, correct ?

Donor vehicle was a 2020 Fusion, no Sony sound system. I actually bought the FCIM from this same vehicle and no Sony logo. Ford’s ETIS didn’t indicate anything that would suggest it had a Sony system either.

ACM is the original, 2014 module.

I’ve copied the *.abt files into a spreadsheet and am comparing them now. By the way, 7D0-08-02 has the same values… so it’s not that setting that’s to blame.

Yep.

Good to know, thanks.

By the way…, I put these up for anyone a bit ago, don’t know if you saw them.

Sorry, I didn’t real all the responses in this thread but I seems that this may be a similar issue I have on my 2017 Lincoln MKZ. Our cars use the Revel Amps. The 2017 model on all use the 3 antenna (dual antenna + Sat).

I have a non hd radio ACM in my in my car which doesn’t have the A2B connector. All the amplification is preformed by the ACM. All the HD radio models have an A2B connector and has an external amplifier running the majority of the speakers. According to my wiring manual, The ACM only amplifies the center channels and front tweeters.

I purchased a new ACM, amps speakers and wiring needed to convert my car to that of the Ford Fusion but never got around to it.

I have Forscan as it is almost necessary when messing with these vehicles. I also have pictures what shows that lots of amplifier components missing of the ACM with A2B plugs.

There is some good info over at 2GFusions - Interior & Electrical covering a lot of the audio and related FORScan adjustments.

So far, I haven’t ran into a configuration that I used in the F150 guide that didn’t apply to my MKZ. The guide has more information that in the f150. It’s apim and acm configuration settings cover Sony, B&O and Revel systems.

I am just to lazy to run all the new wires needed and to tap into the few.
