I have one more question. As I got the 4 inch to 8 inch sync system to finally work and show the full 8 inch screen. The original problem this car had when the guy tried updating the sync and got the 4 in software on it, is the fordpass isnt working.
The only thing I can see in the TCU is its in waiting for auth mode but it has this message in the sync PID “onboard distributed state machine inconsistent”
Has anyone come across this message before? Like I said above I did fix the 4 inch on 8 inch screen problem and everything appears to function in there but cannot get the fordpass to work. Not sure what possible configuration I’m missing in either the apim or tcu so the two modules can sync.
Sorry If I don’t have this posted in the right place I’m still finding my way around the website.

From what I understand you changed the APIM and screen in the Mustang to the 8" version and loaded the appropriate software. This would have broken the VIN and APIM/Modem links for FordPass. To get the systems working again you will need to reset each component in the system.
Go to your FordPass app and remove the vehicle from your account. Close the FordPass app and reboot your phone. (This is to clear the app cache.)
It may take up to a day for this request to process thru the FordPass system and delete the vehicle from your account, so this may require patience. You can check this at the Ford Owner site under your account.
Go to your vehicle with FORScan and perform 2 functions:
First, perform a Master Reset on the Sync system, See doc below.
Second, use FORScan to reset the TCU. This will be in the Tools menu.
Once this is done shut down the car.
Now follow the instructions in this document…You don’t need to do the steps above again.

If this fails, you may ned to perform the following…
FordPass Connect TCU Authorization Thru FORScan TCU-J_K_L.pdf (789.7 KB)
Remember that the vehicle must be running for the modem to be activated.
Thanks for that info. I will have to give that a go. I work on fords and usually always dealing with sync and TCU issue but its always been done with fords software. This is first time I had come across one that’s been swapped out like this and most of the time I have done some of what you described but I feel like I might have been overthinking it alittle because I was messing with this car all day yesterday just trying to figure out what I needed to do. Because I was handed this car that came from the used car department and I went into it blind unknown what was done to the car and they just wanted big screen fixed.
