Sounds more like a problem with the FCIM.

The APIM doesn’t have to be connected to engage the HVAC with manual controls, the IPC acts as the gateway.

I replaced my SYNC 3 APIM in a 2017 Ford Kuga (1.5 EcoBoost) with a unit sourced from Singapore.
After replacing the APIM, the A/C compressor does not engage.

APIM has nothing to do with the A/C other than the software based buttons. Did you replace anything other than the APIM?

Apim does not need to be connected for the AC to work at all.

I haven’t worked with the Kuga, but it’s a Focus family. In the Focus, the APIM can duplicate information, but it only serves as a display. This is the case in most Fords with a climate control module.

Solved!

The issue turned out to be the BCM (Body Control Module) calibration/strategy.

My BCM was running strategy JV6T-14C094-AE. Based on the advice here, I updated it to JV6T-14C094-AF and the problem was immediately resolved.

Before the update:

• The A/C compressor would not engage.

• The system worked only when I manually bridged the A/C relay.

• Disconnecting the APIM made no difference.

After updating the BCM strategy:

• The A/C compressor engages normally.

• The climate control system works as expected.

So in my case, the problem was not the APIM, compressor, pressure sensor, or relay. It was caused by the BCM calibration.
