ACM missing calibration data#2 DTC U201B

After i replaced my sync screen from 6 inch to 8 inch and upgraded from sync 3 to sync 3.4 i noticed i get everytime on starting the car a DTC in the ACM U201B-54:0A. When i clear it after start en read again the DTC’s its gone. only when leaving the car or an hour and start it again its back. I cannot find what can cause this issue relating to the Sync upgrade and screen upgrade. i already did a full PMI of the ACM module succesfully however the DTC is still comming back. I searched the internet for hours but cannot find any information related to this. 1 guy on the forscan forum replace his ACM however every functions seems to work. its only the missing calibration data#2.

How does the FORScan DTC screen define this code?

This is the code:

Code U201B-54-0A - Control module Calibration data #2

  • Missing Calibration

Status (-0A):
-DTC Present at time of Request
-Malfunmctionb Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC.

Module: Audio control Module

I already did a full PMI with the original as-built with succes however this does not solve the issue. Strange things is everythings works. only now and then when i start the car the radio is set back to AM instead of the latest FM preset. As soon the car is turned to on and i clear the DTC its gone for that session. But if i leave the car for a while off and read the DTC again after turning the car on again its back.

Post your module info for the ACM. Firmware and asbuilt.
Which vehicle?
Did you replace the ACM or just the APIM?
Post your APIM asbuilt also.

I did not replaced the APIM or the ACM.

I don’t see anything odd with the asbuilts. Have you reloaded the asbuilts to the ACM and APIM?

Did a full reload of the ACM asbuilt, wil try tomorrow the APIM. Its still strange once the car is on/started and DTC cleared it does not come back. only when i leave the car for a while. But the ford documentation refers to incomplete , incorrect PMI. Only thing that has been changed is the sync version and the screen. I did some retrofits on the car last months so battery has been taken of a couple of times..

Check you battery state of charge. It could be loosing voltage at times like overnight which would cause issues like this.

Just replaced it for a brand New one. Found some interresting information on the forscan forum last night. Only 3 people had the same. One replaced the unit and one did a firmware reflash on the acm to solve it.

Thanks for the update, might help others.

and one did a firmware reflash …

Thanks. Typo. One indeed. How hard is it to do a reflash.. e.g. how much time does it take? Nothing to lose on this acm.

ACM is reflash is pretty quick. Around minute usually.

Usually works without issues.

Ok need a little bit help here.
Can i just go ahead, hit download and and perform a test run? is see a lot of files are new. And the file below calibration file #2 looks like was missing. I have read the whole tutorial how to update. Set all setting right in forscan. Now i have first the trickle charger at the battery as the car went in battery save mode showing on my sync screen. i think there is no option to disable that.

Follow the instructions and program the unit. You should run the vehicle to recharge the battery first. Also, a trickle charger is not the proper type of charger, you need a real battery charger capable of at least 8-10 amps continuous charge.

This is an example:
https://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-SC1282-Automatic-Charger-Maintainer/dp/B079C5SZ2H?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext%26ref_=fplfs%26psc=1%26smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER%26gQT=1

Ok changed the charger batt is full now.
Did a succesfull SBL test (indeed 1 minute flash).

However im missing on the original firmware H1BT-14C654-AC and on the new firmware H1BT-14C654-AAC. So i cant proceed. Have already send the forscan team a request..

Also checked motorcraftservices however gives me file not found :frowning: all other files are found.

The forscan guys uploaded the missing ECU files to there server. This was there response regarding the new firmware and partnumber:

“More new SBL is most likely used because of additional firmware file required. Anyway, we cannot guarantee it is safe. Note that -GV assy is designed for more new hardware (-GF instead of -GE). Although this hardware is marked as compatible in FORScan, in fact it may be not. Also no guarantee that EEPROM will not be damaged if you roll back from -GV to -GE.”

So i flashed the original firmware.
First time it failed at the third strategy file. They adviced to do a custom upload only the files that where failing. This time it flashed succesfully. I can image what a nervous process this is  especially when the whole car gives these sounds and the HVAC led is flashing and you hear some sort of valves turning on and off… now i have to wait for a hour turn on the car and see if it works… what i noticed now in the configuration that there are a lot more options… all disabled but they where not there before… No DTC’s so far.

After an hour waiting the dtc came back. Only thing i noticed is that via the easymenu 2 extra blocks are loading that are not loading in the as-built. I will buy a second of ebay with dab+ and see if that unit solves the issue. So in this case the reflash did not work. I wil give a update after swapping the unit.
