Adding X40 ACM to 2018 Super Duty

Hello,

I Recently purchased an ACM out of a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1. I’m trying to enable the album art and XM station logos on my 2018 F250 super duty XLT trim. I replaced the APIM with one from a 2023 Ford Maverick which had Sync version 3.4.23188 installed from the factory. I realize the ACM is a 21 model going into an 18 truck. I have not ran the 2 new wires yet between the APIM and ACM. I went with the Mustang model so I could retain my CD player and still have the X40 chip.

Could someone please help me with the APIM and ACM Data values for Forscan?

I currently have and would like to keep HD radio and as stated above the new ACM has the CD option, which I would also like to keep…

Any help/thoughts would be great..Thanks in advance!

Have you plugged this in yet? is it working?

Does it have a Blue plug(A2B) in the back of the ACM? if it does and you do not have the B&O system in your 250 than it will not work.

LR3T-19C107-FF is X40 with a CD player, HD Radio.
The 19C107 and 18D832 radios are the previous style connectors. These also can be retrofit to the Sony audio systems. This model is not compatible with B&O audio systems as it does not have the Digital Audio SPDIF connection, or A2B. (The blue connector)

The original ACM for your vehicle is HC3T-19C107-BM, which does not have the A2B connector, so you do not have an external DSP. This is reflected in your OEM asbuilt in the APIM.
The original APIM for your vehicle is JR3T-14G371-CED. Pre 18.5 MY.

I’ll look thru the asbuilts…please post the asbuilts for the new ACM and APIM.

Are you in SWAZILAND (5753)? Nav-in-motion hack. Not necessary with newer versions of Sync…

Than he should be fine.

There is no blue connector on the back. Just the two rectangular Ones likevthe back of my stock radio and the black and mustard color XM and FM antennas.

As built for the 2021 ACM below:

I don’t believe I have the B&O or Sony system as the truck is only a XLT package. I plugged it in and the FM stations work…

You don’t according to your factory asbuilt.

Here are the adjustments for your asbuilts.

Thank you! F150Chief.. You asked for my APIM as built

earlier. I pulled this off Ford’s website using VIN for the 2023 Ford Maverick (APIM donar vehicle)

All good. Just use the 2 asbuilt files I attached. Save everything before you start and when you get done.

Will do. Not sure if I will get to it this weekend due to the Memorial day holiday. I will post the results once completed

Thank you again…SB

Just made the ass built changes to the a Pi M and ACM.

When I went to run the wiring, Pin 51 in the APIM and pin 6 in the ACM were already occupied.

As was APIM pin 52 and ACM pin 19..

Do I simply spice into these existing wires with quick taps?

I have not done so yet. Just transferred my SiriusXM subscription and have no SiriusXM radio. I am assuming This is because of the wiring stated above.

There were no issues with APIM pin 27 to ACM pin 5 Or APIM pin 28 to ACM pen 4. These 4 locations were empty in their respective harness.

Speaking of ACM harness, We are talking about the one closest to the driver side of the vehicle, correct?

  • Wiring required:
    • VMEF7 APIM pin 51 to ACM pin 6 CTRL MOD - Audio Head Unit DRDL_TX_+
    • VMEF8 APIM pin 52 to ACM pin 19 CTRL MOD - Audio Head Unit DRDL_TX_-
    • VMEG1 APIM pin 27 to ACM pin 5 CTRL MOD - BT/MM GW MOD DRDL_TX_+
    • VMEG2 APIM pin 28 to ACM pin 4 CTRL MOD - BT/MM GW MOD DRDL_TX_-

The first 2 are common to already be wired for the DRDL function. No modification is needed.

The harness is routed from the drivers side in the center stack, yes. Not sure if that is what you are asking.

So I am assuming if there are wires in those respective locations, then no spicing end of them is required?

My female APIM pins should be here tomorrow. Tonight, I just literally jammed the wires into the slots for APIM 27 & 28, Maybe they’re not getting good contact

I also notice that I do not have GPS on my navigation.

No splicing…

Did you install the GPS antenna? Or is there already one?

You can access a “secret” menu on the SYNC 3. To do that, press the right arrow button on the steering wheel and the right arrow button (Scan button) on the infotainment panel at the same time and hold them for five seconds.

A new menu screen will appear. The SYNC system might begin running a speaker diagnostic test, which you can cancel. The new screen will provide options to run various diagnostic functions, like testing the audio speakers, infotainment screen display, or other functions. You can see the satellite reception signals in this menu.

A J series APIM is not capable of X40 regardless of calibration.

Anything higher would be capable.

And just to be triple sure..

this is the ACM connector we are referring to correct?

I already had one. The OEM stock that came with the truck.

The 2 connectors are keyed and different layout. You are pointing to C240A.

Look at the back label of the APIM, it should indicate NU5T-14G371-CAG. This is a MY20+ APIM with NAV., 32GB.
DO NOT REFORMAT.
