Advice needed on Restoring OEM Sync 3

Hi Everyone. Thank goodness for help forums! Just a heads up, I’m not familiar with Discord. I read so many great reviews about Cyanlabs that I updated the Sync 3 3.0.180193 to 3.4.xxxxx about a week ago. I didn’t see an option to do a backup and didn’t think I’d need to restore it so I proceeded.
The car is a recent purchase to share with my elderly mother. IDK Sync controlled the push button start and FOB. Today is the first time Sync didn’t recognize the FOB, which would have left my mother stranded. I’d feel so much better if I could restore it to factory. I don’t know what to do peeps.

  1. Can I restore it to the factory even though I didn’t back up the original?
  2. I have the Ford factory update. Will that truly restore it to the factory and does it include the factory NAV maps?
  3. Is there a way that I can format the drive first and then restore it (if I can)?

you can not downgrade to 3.0 as clearly stated on the website in multiple places

sync doesn’t affect the fob or push button start so that’s completely unrelated

Sync has nothing to do with this. Something else is wrong.

Ok. I’m having a few issues that I’ve not been able to resolve after a few master resets and a second reinstall. Ive also searched without much luck.

When the car starts up it says, “usb hub are not supported. Please remove.” With the “close” button. The ports work fine.

What do you recommend I do to resolve that? Issue?

A 2016 came with a hub that is not supported by never Sync versions. It also does not work with Carplay. You will need to upgrade the hub to get rid of this reminder/warning. Ford warned everyone about this when they released support for Carplay.

Hi Bill. I appreciate your help and the others that have replied. i truly do. I have been living on the opposite side of the world for the last decade where 99% of vehicles there are not American, and most ppl do not own anything with more than 2 wheels as they are generally not needed.

Now I already mentioned I never dreamed id want to downgrade. So, i never read about it. Am I upset? Heck no. What is the purpose of you, Cyanlabs, and possibly others regarding the statements states like about what you said was on Ford’s website and Cyanlab’s citing a statement on the site, to make me feel bad? For you to blow off steam? I dont understand, I mean the system’s been updated already folks.

Thanks again for the help. I hate to see this going on in person stateside and especially in a help forum!

Thanks for the info! If anyone googles this later, Android phones are fully functional.

Awwww…c’mon it’s no big deal, @bill2399 simply pointed out a fact about the key fob and car play hub that you may not have been aware of and tried to point you in the right direction.

He wasn’t having a go at you and similar comments appear on this forum all the time.

Nothing personal…don’t take offence.

not really sure what this is meant to mean but this isn’t the place for it if it’s what I assume it is.

for what it’s worth by the way I am British, not American, American drama does not bother or concern me in anyway shape or form

I must have missed something. Not sure how “Upgrade your hub” turned into hate and drama.
