After updating to 3.4 problems with camera

Hi,

Today I updated my sync from version 3.0, build 20204 to the current sync 3.4, which was available. Ford S-Max from 2016.

A complete new installation was carried out, everything went without errors.

After the start, the Sync 3.4 works well for the time being and everything essential works.

Now to the problem: I have a rear-mounted camera that I retrofitted myself. Great picture until before the update, no problems. After the update, the picture is now black and white and blurry (like on an old surveillance camera). The picture is shown for a few seconds, then it switches off and the error message appears that no camera is recognized.

Put the gear in again and I see the picture again … black, white, etc. again and it switches off.

I did a factory reset, I also deactivated and reactivated the camera via the current forscan. Can someone help? It would be a shame if the camera no longer works because I need it on some routes because of the rear view.

And I rule out a fault in the camera or the wiring, they still worked perfectly when the engine was started. 1h drive later it doesn’t work anymore …

Although … when I think about it … can there be problems with the shield line? The plug didn’t want to fit in, not what came out.

The Sync upgrade would not mess up your camera. I would fix the wiring and make sure the shield is secure with connection to ground. The camera will not pass video properly with a bad shield.

I’ve now dismantled everything, front and back. Everything about the cabling is fine. My second attempt would now be to downgrade. Can I do this using the updater? On a V3 or something?

1h before the update, the camera was still working, is it possible that the V3.4 has a bug somewhere with the image transfer? It also switches off as if there was no camera on it.

You can’t go back to 3.0, but you could try some older build for 3.4. There’s a 3.3 even.

All this can be done with the app, just configure it correctly with your current version.

Also, since you were on 3.0 and performed a reformat already, there’s no risk.

So, it must be a bug in V3.4.21194. I did a Dowgrade to V3.3, the camera works immediately without any errors.

I’m still thinking about going to a different V3.4, as this version was really popular, also in terms of navigation.

Installed V3.4.20351 again and it works. The camera doesn’t cause any problems. I’ll leave this on for now, maybe I’ll try the newer version again later. Maybe there was an error during the installation …

If you would, try to go up to 3.4.21194 and see if the camera works. If it does not, then just go back to 3.4.20351. This should not happen with the Sync app, but maybe as you say there is an uncovered bug. If we know this it can help others in the future. Thanks.

As f150chief said, I would try going to the lastest one. Just keep the maps, it will be faster since only sync would be updated.

You have the freedom of jumping between versions. We had only a few reports of strange issues like this being solved by jumping back and then forward again.
