  1. Can I use a 8 inch or 12 inch apim with my current 8-inch Sync 3 screen?
  2. Is there a way to check if the part numbers #MU5T-14G670-RNN , ML3T-14G670-AFP are for an 8-inch or 12-inch screen?
  3. If I get a Sync 4 APIM, can I just swap it out or do I need additional hardware to make it work?"

    Sync 4 will swap with the Sync 3 hardware pretty straightforward. Some vehicle models will have different mounting between the two.

    Yes.

    I need to update it for the latest version, though. Not much different.

You CAN use 8Inch Sync 4 apim with a Sync 3 screen

The newer screens or the older ones? I thought the drivers had changed?

It doesn’t matter if it’s old or new. An 8inch Sync 4 APIM will works fine with ANY 8inch Sync 3 screen.

That’s valid ONLY for 8inch screen APIM anyway. For 12"+ APIM it’s a completely different story.
