APIM Firmware Rescue Flash Files

I am trying to rescue a used Sync3 APIM for a retrofit into my 2013 F250. I was told it was working when pulled from a 2018 Ford Mustang. The APIM is JR3T-14G370-ABH with a manufacture date of 02/26/2018 on the sticker. I am confident that this APIM is a generation 3 2018.5 APIM. I do not know what software version that is installed (unless someone can tell me how to find it in Forscan).

The screen stay black(off) but I can communicate with it using Forscan and can program/write an ASBUILD data to it from a similar equip vehicle and it says successful write. I have done a APIM reset and it does not help. I have changed 7D0-03XX-XXX to 7D0-00XX-XXX and the screen is still black. I have not tried to update any Sync3 software.

As I understand it, I might be able to recover the unit if I flash it with the recovery firmware for the video drivers:
Secondary Boot Loader: GB5T-14G376-AA
Strategy (F188): GB5T-14G374-CA or GB5T-14G374-CB
Calibration (F124): GB5T-14G375-DA or GB5T-14G375-FA
ECU Configuration/Sound Profiles (F10A): GB5T-14G379-AA
ECU Configuration/Illumination Strategy (F16B): GB5T-14G379-BA
or
these files per the APIM Firmware Rescue flash thread:
For NAV:
SBL: (shouldn’t have to change this) GB5T-14G376-AA.VBF
Strat: HB5T-14G374-CA.VBF
Cal: HB5T-14G375-DA.VBF (for NA) or HB5T-14G375-FA (ANY region with NAV, US Export)

I have paid license for Forscan. If I am way off base, please forgive me. I have done programing before but this time I am at a loss and would like to get this screen unit up and running but I need a little assistance.

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: Retrofit

Old SYNC Version: 1.2.3456

New SYNC Version: 1.2.3456

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
I don’t know if there is an error message becuase the screen stays black (off)

Update Method: Official Ford

In FORScan, select the vehicle icon and go to "Modules’ tab. The modules are listed with the firmware versions.

See if you can run the Interrogator Utility (if the USB is working). This will tell you the asbuilt, firmware, storage, etc. Post the xml here.

See your PM…

Thanks Chief, I’ll have a go at it tomorrow morning and let you know what I come up with

@F150Chief so I was able to load all the files and Forscan say firmware loading was successful
I loaded an AS Built Data from a similar F250 but the screen still does not come on.
This is what Forscan says is the configuration:
APIM - Accessory Protocol Interface Module
Part number: JR3T-14G371-BED
Calibration level: JR3T-14G371-BED
Strategy : GB5T-14G374-CB
Calibration: GB5T-14G375-DA

Screen shot of As Built Data:

Any other ideas to try?

That APIM is a Pre-MY18.5.
The asbuilt looks fine.
Did the screen come with the APIM? And there is a video cable attahed from the screen to the APIM?
If the screen is not showing a backlight, it might be bad.
Do the APIM USB ports work? If they do, and you can obviously write asbuilt info, etc., then the screen is likely bad.

Yes the screen came with the APIM. There is no backlight on the screen. I have no idea if the USB hub is actually working (the light rings around the port are on though).
I am coming to the same conclusion that the screen is bad too. :frowning:

I would agree. If the lights are lit on the USB then it has power. No backlight on the screen is a good indication it is not working.

Just to double check, is the firmware that is loaded look ok?

The only thing that does not match physically is the part number that Forscan list does not match what is on the sticker (sticker says JR3T-14G370-ABH)

The sticker denotes the assembly, JR3T-14G370-ABH.
The APIM shows the actual APIM HW Number, JR3T-14G371-BED.
Looks ok, firmware as well.
