APIM MY20 or not?

I bought an APIM off ebay that came out of a 2017 Explorer. I programmed the APIM for my 2015 superduty and all works as it should. I want to update to latest 3.4 and maps. Checked the APIM number JR3T-14G371-CJD and said not MY20, along with the Interrogator, but the MFG Date is 01/15/2021. Dont want to brick to update latest software and map data

Share a picture of the sticker on the APIM.
Treat it as MY20 for the time being.

Unless you are sure it’s the exact same unit, share a picture from the actual unit you got.

That is the exact unit I got

Sync_W01FB9KQ_1FT7W2B65FEA00971.xml (10.0 KB)

After a quick search, I would say you treat it as MY20.
I’ve configured it as so on our side, so checks will flag it as MY20 for the time being.

Thanks for sharing the information, detection for these type of units is user driven since there’s no real way of checking.

We will try to gather more information, but for know, it’s flagged as MY20.

Thank you

There’s a post from 02/2023 where someone had that model and bricked it with a reformat as well as a listing on eBay where the donor vehicle was a 2017 and the AB comes back showing that model (unit sticker shows 2022).
I’d say its a safe bet that JR3T-14G371-CJD is the part number for a replacement APIM ordered from Ford parts.
Since the part is ordered by VIN, the APIM will come with whatever version of Sync3 it had on it when it left the factory, just updated to last released build.

Thank you for the info. I’m glad I got this for a good deal. I’ll look around for one I can update and use this one in meantime.

You can look into FMODS’ universal reformat package, which can handle MY20 hardware…

But, that’s up to you…
