Hi all,
I’ve recently done a retrofit of my stereo to upgrade it from sync 1 to a sync 3 system and recently had a newer acm swap due to the older one not allowing me to hear bluetooth audio. Now im faced with a new problem, I am able to hear all audio well but the moment I switch the car on all audio stops. I don’t understand how this is possible as the older ACM I couldn’t hear bluetooth audio but would hear all others well (radio, beeps and etc). I don’t think its a wiring issue but am unsure, has anyone else ever had this problem?
You’ve got two different things here.
- what model/year/trim was the donor vehicle the ACM came out of
- what model/tear/trim did the Sync3 APIM come from and who did the custom config?
And, what model/year/trim is your vehicle?
While modules may look the same or come from the same model, it doesn’t mean you can just drop them in. Working together correctly depends on the firmware/calibration in the units being compatible and the config logic being correct.
Hi,
the apim i bought was a HM5T-14G370-GBE, it came off of a 2017 ford focus SE and the car im placing it in is a ford focus 2016 S.
I did the retrofitting but bought a pre built plug and play cable, I’ll try to add it in.
Thanks,
As for the Acm thr model number is fm5t19c107jh , it came off of a 2017 ford focus but I do not have much more information regarding what specs it was
Canbus signals are what tell the modules to turn on. They have constant power to them otherwise. In your case this sounds like a wiring problem.
A 2016 Focus came with Sync 3 so I am guessing you’re doing a 4" upgrade? I am not even gonna try to guess if that harness is done right.
Yes Im doing the 8 inch sync upgrade, but what has me confused is that the older acm worked perfectly in the sense that I could switch the car on and off and I could still hear the radio, the only fault it had was that bluetooth audio was non existent. Could it maybe have to do with new acm connection points being different?
Well the APIM has the Bluetooth connection. It sends that signal to the ACM. That could be an AB setting.
The bluetooth connects and able to see phone information, pause and skip music and all, im just unable to get bluetooth audio with the old acm
Ps. One other important detail is that the older Acm is eu based meaning I cant edit the program through forscan, it only shows the numbers 0030 and no others
Was this a EU Focus from the start or is it a NA import?
Since the 2016 Focus came with Sync3, find a 2016 SE with the 8" screen on a car sale site (if the car is an EU car find one there not on a US site) and download the AsBuilt for its VIN from Ford. That’s going to be closer to what you have in the car now than a 2017.
