I am writing this as some users may not be aware if this.
I originally did the Sync 3.0 to 3.4 update back when it was released here with no issues. Since then as the Australian Map 2020 update is locked, it needed the downgrade mode to install it. I really did not want to go through that again, so I resisted map updates and just updated the rest as each update was released.
Today my car was in the dealer for service, and just to see what would happen I requested their free map update service. I got the car back this afternoon and it went fine, the 3.4 Sync version it was on was still there, and my maps now show as 2020. I was not aware before this was possible but it is, so you can always avoid the map update especially in Australia where downgrade mode is needed and just get the dealer to do it for you.
