Backup camera not working after sync to sync 3 conversion. Tow/Haul not working after 4 inch to 8 inch cluster upgrade

I swapped my sync on my 2018 F250 XLT to a sync 3 unit out of a 2019 f150. I updated the unit to version 3.3 (because i was having audio issues on phone calls and read on a forum to try 3.3 before 3.4, but I got it to work with some as built changes i found on another forum), however I can’t get the backup camera to work. It pops up with a blue screen for several seconds before going black, and eventually says ‘camera is unavailable.’ I’ve swapped the camera and done a master reset as well.

In a separate issue i also upgraded the instrument cluster to an 8 in unit out of the same f150 and got almost everything to work, but the tow/haul button on my shifter. I was having issues with my brake controller not working, but managed to fumble my way to getting that back.

So for the IPC, you need to assure that the transmission is the same, the 10 speed automatic. Otherwise the shifter functions will be different. The audio with phone calls was determined to be AA/CP issues with updates to the Android or Apple devices for the most part. However, specific to the SuperDuty platform for some reason, there was an issue with the micrphones and audio in-call. There is a TSB from Ford about this…it is not specific to Sync 3.3 or 3.4.

Post your asbuilt for the APIM and we’ll look thru it to see if there is anything specific.

The cluster was off a 10 spd truck and mine is a 6 speed. i changed the shift config in the ipc , but it the tow/haul still isn’t there. It only displays 6 gears on the cluster.

On the calls i actually found someone having a similar issue in a mustang and just used the mustang as built line and my calls started working

It’s all in the low level flash in the cluster, you can’t change it. @Livnitup might be able to assist, he does this thing with clusters…https://www.clustersbylivnitup.com/

The issue is that you used a 2019 F150 cluster that uses drive modes and not the tow/haul/sport so you’re not going to be able to make it work. You should have used a 2017-19 F250 8" cluster instead.

Thank yall. I’ll keep an eye out for another one

Any ideas on the backup camera part?

Why did you swap the Sync 3 unit? Did the 2018 F250 not have Sync 3, maybe only 4" screen?
Is that the OEM camera? Most likely need a LIN calibration.
Where did you get this asbuilt? Is it the original?
Do you have issues with your radio presets?

As far as the camera settings in the asbuilt they look ok, however, this might be a Sync 3.3 issue. Going to Sync 3.4 might solve the issue with the camera. But first, have you performed a LIN calibration for the camera in the BCM?

For the 7D0-08-xx settings:
7D0-08-01 0002 0000 00xx
7D0-08-02 is correct
As far as the 7D0-09-xx settings, turn those all to ‘0’ as they will have no function in your F250. Even if you get a menu to appear it will likely not work due to the older module it is trying to control. It won’t really hurt anything to enable the menus, they just won’t do anything.

The rest of the asbuilt looks ok for your vehicle, except maybe the vehicle specific settings for NAV if this is not the original asbuilt.

This was a 4 inch unit i swapped for the sync 3 out of an f150. It was the oem camera, but i swapped in an aftermarket replacement when it didnt work. I have not done a LIN calibration (not sure what that is). The as built i believe is how it came out of the f150. I dont use the radio, so im not sure of the presets.

Something i didnt mention is i had another sync 3 unit/APIM right before this one that i unpdated to 3.4 and had the same issue. It was out of a 2016 so i figured it may not have liked the 3.4 (why i only did the 3.3 update on the new unit)

It didnt have NAV on the 4 inch original unit so im not sure what would need to be changed. How do i do a LIN calibration?

Put the OEM camera back in…
In FORScan:
Using the wrench icon, run service procedures: IPMB Local Interconnect Network New Module Calibration (you will not have this if you don’t have 360 view), BdyCM Local Interconnect Network New Module Calibration, BdyCM Rear Camera Calibration.
Then run: IPMB Module Reboot (you will not have this if you don’t have 360 view), BdyCM Module Reboot. Once the camera responds properly, the dynamic guidelines will not respond until the vehicle had been driven and the camera given time to recalibrate itself

Warning: Performing a BCM reboot will cause all kinds of noises and flashing lights. This is normal. Make sure you clear all DTC’s after.

Probably the best thing to do if you haven’t already is to find a 2018 F250 for sale that has Sync 3 and use that Sync 3 asbuilt. Compare the files first before you blindly dump any file to any module.

Swapping the camera and running those calibrations (I don’t have 360 camera) didn’t work. I’ll try and track down an as built from a similarly spec’d truck. (The other sync 3 unit I originally tried was from a 2016 F350 which didn’t work, but it was a different body style and I have no idea how it was spec’d.
