I just upgraded me 2014 F250 to Sync 3. I can’t seem to program the right code to get the camera working. The screen doesn’t change at all when shifted into reverse. Any help would be Greatly appreciated. Thanks
Yes it was working before. I did program the as built with my original file. I also tried a similarly equipped 2017 F250. I have not performed a Lin calibration.
Your 2014 would have had Sync2/MFT (8" screen, 4" is Sync 1) from the factory.
You cannot drop your original AB file into a Sync3 APIM, its a different operating system (QNX auto) and the hardware is different.
Have you looked at https://www.f150forum.com/ there’s plenty of info there on doing a MFT to Sync 3 conversion on pre-Sync3 F150s.
Info for you:
A 2014 F-150 is a CGEA 1.2 vehicle, which is a different electrical architecture than 2015 forward vehicles (generally) from Ford. The 1.2 and 1.3 versions are compatible in most respects, with the exception of HVAC and some other systems. When you install a Sync 3 device (CGEA 1.3) into a CGEA 1.2 vehicle, the CGEA 1.3 device needs to be programmed correctly to accommodate the 1.2 vehicle system versions. Using a version 1.2 asbuilt in a 1.3 APIM will not make it work, and the asbuilt structure is different anyways. Using a 2016/2017 asbuilt will mostly work, but will still need to be adjusted for the version 1.2 settings.
You will need to perform a LIN calibration to get the camera to work as the BCM needs to connect to the camera module via LIN. Once this is done, and the appropriate asbuilt settings are made to the APIM asbuilt, the camera should work. The giveaway here is the screen does not change when shifted to reverse. As far as Sync and the BCM know, there is not a camera because it can’t find it on the LIN.
