Black Screen after Sync 3 downgrade from 3.4.23188 EU to 3.4.22200 EU

Hello, I have tried to downgrade (to get rid of some skins and mods).
After downgrade the screen worked for a short time with old sync 3 skin, but then the screen went black. Radio is not working, nothing. Tried to reset with button combination but no dice.

My car is manufactured in 10/2020 but I dont know if the sync 3 is also manufactured in 2020.

What should I do?

The pictures at the bottom show the device-info before the downgrade.

Replace the APIM, it’s dead, it’s bricked.

It’s a MY20 APIM.

You might want to look for help on the FMods site since the APIM was previously jailbreaked.

You cat get any 64 GB APIM.

You could get a NOT-MY20 one, a late one like a K series. I believe the unit is still readable via Forscan, so you can get the asbuilt for it (or you can download it from Ford if the unit is stock). You will need that to re-program the new one.

But here’s the thing: there are 2 factors when it come to reformatting MY20

  • the APIM
  • the screen

Ford’s leaked reformat tool that Syn3updater uses does not have the required drivers to handle those, hence bricking the unit.

I’m mentioning the screen because we are focusing on the APIM now, and sure you can replace it with a NOT-MY20 one… Since your car is MY20 with a MY20 APIM, consider your screen MY20 as well. So I would not risk using Syn3updater to reformat a NOT-MY20 APIM with a MY20 screen on it.

As you can see, if you want to reformat the unit in the future you will need to use FMODS’ universal reformat package that can handle MY20 hardware.

With that limitation / warning in mind, you can then get a MY20 APIM as well.

Now, if you get a NOT-MY20 APIM + Screen combo, then no limitation applies.

How are the prices in general?

Would this APIM in the Link be okay, without the driver issues you mentioned? I got it, that I need to reprogram it.

This APIM is from Focus MK4
I have S-Max from 10-2020.

Would that be no problem?

I think I downloaded Asbuild from motorcraftservice.com for my specific VIN. (Is it the VIN.ab file?)

I am in Europe if that matters anything.

Also my Unit was stock, it just had Mods installes on it

That APIM is MY20+, CAN NOT be reformatted with the Ford reformat tool.

My20+ APIM’s part numbers begin with 5 and higher, and K and higher.

The .ab file is the ‘factory’ asbuilt file.

You cannot install mods on a Ford APIM without jailbreaking the unit. The jailbreak is under the mods installation.
