Cannot Update from 19200 to Latest Version

Hey all…

I have tried numerous times during the past few months (when I have hours to spend) to try and update my 19200 to the current version, with no avail.
I have SYNC 3.4.
I (believe) I read something in the threads about downgrading versions and then upgrading them?
Any advice would be appreciated.
My Android Auto software is EXTREMELY buggy all of a sudden, and I’m not sure if it is a SYNC issue or what.
Thanks in advance!

Hello there.

Please provide the syn3updater log as requested.
What you have provided is the interrogator log which helps but that’s not what we need to see right now.

Also, please be aware that saying “cannot upgrade” without context does not really tells us anything either. For example, is there an error or message displayed?. What are you trying to do exactly?.

Hey there!

I have had no error message.
SYNC says it is updating… updating complete… (then something along the line) that it needs to restart. So I have allowed it to restart on its own, without turning the vehicle off and no upgrade was noted. I also have tried to turn my vehicle off, then restart it. The result was still the same.

I am still kinda a rookie about these logs… would you be kind enough to explain how i may retrieve the one you are requesting?

Thanks again.

Hello.

With this little detail:

I can now imagine what’s going on, which also includes why you have an interrogator log output.

What I’m asking now is for the log for the USB creation, Syn3updater creates one for every USB you create. You can locate them under the Logs tab in Syn3updater. Please, select the one for the USB you are using for upgrading and send it over.

This will confirm what I think it’s going on: you are trying to update maps, you didn’t reply you don’t have a MY20 APIM and Syn3updater is creating the interrogator log to find out if that’s the case or not. And in that flow, it seems you interrupted it. If this is the case, the USB syn3updater created was never meant to actually upgrade the unit, just to run the interrogator log.

Based on the log you have already sent, your APIM is GB5T-14G371-BFC which is not MY20, so you should be good to reformat it at your own risk.

Hello.

You are confusing me.
The log you provided is dated 14th, after you created the thread. So that’s not a proper log or that represents the issue you originally had.

So, use that USB to upgrade the APPS package if that’s what you want and see how it goes.

Hi there.
The log I uploaded was after I tried to install the software update (yet) again.
Since I could not find the original log you were asking for, I tried to reinstall and find the log you.
The install failed again, so I thought this may log may work you

Hello.

Syn3updater saves all the logs on your computer, so recreating the USB was not really needed. If you didn’t have one maybe you never created it (because of the interrogator log creation), so that’s ok.

Any context for this?. Can you describe what is it doing?. Any message?.

And once again: what do you want to achieve here?, only upgrading Sync3?.
Because the log you provided shows you want to downgrade it to 3.3…

Consider using another USB stick, we had issues with this brand before.

Also, why is your USB “Enforced Downgrade”?, you are trying to install 3.3…

At this point, I do not know what you are doing anymore.
Have you gone through the documentation?, or are you just “going at it”?.

Thank you for the reply!

I did indeed see the option for the downgrade checked, however it was ‘greyed’ so I could not click it to change it.

I will indeed get another brand USB stick to retry, as all of my 10s of attempts over the past year have been on this brand of stick.

What are your thoughts on the downgrade box being unable to unchanged? Could it possibly be that I am using an incorrect formatting on my stick?

The head unit was installed with 3.4,and it would appear to be that I am still at SYNC 3.4, not 3.3, right? I have just been attempting all these times to update from 19200 to the current version.

I have never received an error message. The vehicle always appears to update without any issues, and even states that the update will begin with the restart. It will restart itself if i don’t restart the vehicle myself.

I really appreciate your patience with me Sandman.

SOLVED!!

I tried one more attempt today, and watched very carefully for what triggered that ‘forced’ downgrade.
It was when I chose to include updating the maps along with everything else.
Soooo I deselected it, and I am pleased to say the upgrade has been completed smoothly!

At some point, I will upgrade the maps separately.

Thank you for all your support with providing us this website!

Apologies for the delayed response, somehow I missed your previous updates.
I’m glad that it eventually worked.

I’m not that sure that was it. Should maps be updated as well the installation method for non-MY20 hardware would be a simple downgrade, not “forced downgrade”.

Your log was the first I’ve seen with such wording, so I’m not sure how you created it.
