Cannot update sync via usb

Trying to update sync from 3.0.17276 to the most current update, each time I plug in the USB I get “Installation paused - the usb storage device has been changed or removed. Installation will resume when the device is re-inserted”. I’ve tried just about everything I’ve been able to read off of reddit and this website, whenever I master reset sync the previous owners phones are still on sync and every time I delete them and restart the car they come right back. I tried doing an interrogation log but I can’t complete an installation. All files are downloading successfully to the USB. Is my APIM just shot?

First question, do you have anything else plugged into the other USB port?
Phone cables even without a phone having off them can cause problems sometime, so you need to remove anything else that’s plugged in.

If you don’t, I would be looking at the USB media hub/port first there’s a good chance that the port is flaky.

We have had many reports like yours (you have already seen then) and I think with THAT particular build. The fact the Master Reset does not clear any data is an indication the APIM is unhealthy, that’s not a good sign.

As far as I remember, none of those reports were resolved by other than replacing the APIM.

All usb ports have nothing in them, if I plug in my phone it will charge but apple carplay wont even open up I’ll probably try a new usb hub before biting the bullet on a new APIM - thank you
