CarPlay connection issues & no Android Auto dash navigation

Hi there -

A few months ago I upgraded my Sync 3 software primarily in hopes of achieving Android Auto navigational directions in the IPC (dash.) Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to have worked. Is my hardware incompatible with this feature, or is it possible to enable somehow?

Additionally, my partner is having issues with CarPlay. She states that often when she plugs the phone in, nothing happens. Today, she stated that she plugged her phone in and while CarPlay popped up, audio continued to play out of her phone. She then unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it wouldn’t detect the phone at all. Turning the car off and on again and then reconnecting the phone also seems to have no effect.

Reading around a little more and it sounds like the IPC Nav probably does not work because I have a non-Nav APIM. Is it still possible to enable the IPC nav using FORscan, or will I need a Nav APIM for it to work?

Often there are space problems when updating a non Nav to 3.4.23088 or the latest version 3.4.23188.
You could try doing a couple of soft resets followed by a master reset to see if that makes a difference.
Failing that the boffins here will no doubt give you a link to hopefully solve the issue. :yum:

Forscan can turn the nav option on in the IPC. It will be pointless though as it will not recive a signal for that info over the Canbus without a Nav IPC. I have the option in 2 of my cars with that same IPC and I never use it. All it does is show the next turn when you get near it and that is pretty much it.

I don’t believe any Nav data come from Apple Carplay to the Nav.

Carplay will never work, nor has it. Unless something has changed.

AA will show if you use Google Maps, but Waze no go lately. It’s just blank. I’m in the beta with them, and reported it several times. The only workaround I’ve found for it to show is start a route with Google Maps, then cancel it and immediately go to Waze and there’s a 50% chance it’ll show for your route.

My Waze works fine, but it still shows wrong roundabout directions :rofl:
