Hi! My name is Ludger and I own a Ford SMax 2,0 TDCI 4WD Business Edition 2017
My Sync is lagging and so I found in the german Motortalk-Forum the possibility to change to your software. I prepared a stick with synupdater.
My Sync has Navi and the problem is, that there are so much files to update that the elctronic shuts down and the updateprogress starts new every time.
At the moment I have not the time to drive around for an hour for the whole update. Is it possible, that a I flash only the software for radio etc. and then at another time I update the navi only?
Just a small clarification, the only Cyanlabs’ software is Syn3updater. All packages that are used by Cyanlabs are Ford’s, so Syn3updater is just a facilitator.
Having said that, a full EU (OS + Maps) upgrade from 3.0 takes about an hour (with a decent USB pendrive). You do not need to drive, you could leave the car running stationary if you can (and if you do so, ensure proper ventilation to avoid issues with the exhaust).
But yes, you can modify the install to avoid installing maps, which will greatly reduce the installation time.
In order to do so, go into Syn3updater’s configuration and select any 3.0 as current build and disable NAV. That’s the quickest way to do it.
Recreate the USB, and this time no maps related stuff will be installed.
Just take into consideration that you will eventually need to do the 1 hourish install to reinstall maps…
