Climate control not working 2016 Taurus SHO

The only buttons for the seat climate control are on the sync screen… i dont see any other way to control them.

If you have climate-controlled seats, then you will likely have hard buttons on the center panel. Look under the passenger seat or in FORScan module listing for an SCME module. If it’s not there then you don’t have them.

EDIT: It seems the Taurus with the capacitive touch panel is an exception, along with its Lincoln counterpart. It does not have hard buttons.

Looking at your asbuilt, you do not have an SCME controller. You do have an HVAC controller (733). This does not contain the climate seat settings, however.

You do have an FCIM (7A7). In the FCIM asbuilt info, look to see what is defined for 7A7-01-01: xxxx-*xxx-xxxx.

Well that is interesting…so maybe i have a bad fcim. I cant find the asbuilt settings for the fcim, the module is not coming up in the list. It does come up in the tests menu, and it tests ok with no issues. It also comes up in the service procedures tab for a module reboot.

There was also a code for communication with the seat module.

There is definitely no manual buttons for the seats heating or cooling, except for the back seats. And i am including pics from under the seats.

Try a new scan with FORScan. First clear any DTC’s, see if it comes up. Sometimes modules don’t have settings to change so they are not listed. But if you have a communication error, the module may not respond, and not be listed.

So the HVAC and Climate controlled seat module under the passenger seat are all that’s involved in that. There is a common problem in both the Flex, Edge, Taurus and the Explorer as they all use the same Climate controlled seat setup. The problem is that it needs 2 grounds on one of the plugs as just one will be to much current and it will become to hot and melt. This video will explain the possible problem better than I can.

Stupid question, but you are testing the HVAC and climate seats with the engine running, right?

Yes i am testing with the engine running. I rescanned with forscan and it is not coming up in the asbuilt tab, only the testing and service tabs. And it passes the test, but i have not attempted to reboot the module.
