Climate Control randomly turning on and off every five seconds

I found a brand new FCIM but it is for a 2020, Do you think it will work? It looks identical and the harness plug is the same. The seller says its not the one I need but research says otherwise. Great price for a brand new just not sure if it has heated and cooled seats which will matter. Also the hub in the console is the one i am replacing with a 2018 version due to the error message. It is a single port same as the one I have just should work with 3.4 is my understanding. Having a bit of trouble getting wifi to connect with 3.4 as well. So just need the the FCIM and I should be back on the road. Thanks, Rich

No work on this car except the evaporator and hood replacements back in 2019 or so, I do all the maintenance and drive it as it should be driven.

You will gain nothing by connecting this. Ford will not send you updates for a newer unit.

As for the plugs I would have to check the pin outs on the plug. Sometimes they move a wire which is annoying but it causes it not to work. I think they added HS4 to the 2020 Mustang but that should not effect the FCIM.

What is the part number of your original FCIM?
The hub will be a 1 port pass through…

This is the current FCIM part number P) FR3T-18245-GC. I ordered a 2018 FCIM and a 2018 hub that is backwards compatible from Midway Mustang. The replacement FCIM is JR3T-18E245-BE. The replacement hub is HU5T-14F014-AC.

That hub will work for sure. I have the same one sitting right here on my desk and I know it worked.

Thanks Bill hopefully the bezel is compatible and my issue is resolved. I got the cable already just waiting for the hub and the replacement FCIM. I won’t bother w connecting wifi that makes sense. What is the best way to stay on top of updates? I wonder what kind of features does 3.4 offer compared to to the 3.0 version. Can I change the back ground, tweak settings etc.

Once you reformat the APIM you are out of Ford’s update cycle/system. You will not get updates. The best way to stay current is just to check here every so months. The new versions are always posted when released.

As far as Sync 3 is concerned in general, there are not a lot of tweaks other than what Ford provided. You can change the splash screen, backgrounds, etc., that are built into the system with FORScan or thru the normal menu settings. If you wanted to do specialized backgrounds and other tweaks, there is a website FMods that has specialized in this. It requires the APIM be jailbroken, but they have a reliable process for all this and support it thru the website. If nothing else it’s a good read… FMods - Forum

As far as the FCIM, I looked at them and the new FCIM should be ok.
NOTE: The first thing you do is to capture the asbuilt from the new FCIM when you install it and make a new profile for the vehicle. If something is not right and you have to return it you will need to reload the asbuilt. Also, if there are settings your vehicle does not have at least we know the coding we start with.

Let us know when you are ready to proceed…

Hi Chief, I uploaded the original settings during the Sync 3.4 upgrade to this site. I will need to figure out the steps to upload the FCIM data. I will receive the replacement FCIM tomorrow. My battery is once again completely dead after fully charging it up. Could this be related the FCIM staying powered up even after everything is shut off? I have never had any electrical or power issues until this climate control issue started. I am thinking it is related. The battery tests good when it is fully charged, it starts the car normally.

Uploading the FCIM data for your vehicle into the new FCIM is very straightforward. On the asbuilt page there is a button at the bottom that says ‘LOAD ALL’. Select that and find your OEM asbuilt data file., select that and it will load your OEM FCIM data to FORScan, then WRITE ALL. You might want to see what the new one does first before you do anything.

Probably. You will need to keep an eye on that. Do you have a real battery charger capable of 8-10 amps continuous for a vehicle? Like This…
Amazon.com: Schumacher Electric 10A Battery Charger and Maintainer, 3-in-1 Solution for 12V Batteries, SC1282, for Motorcycle, Power Sport, Lawn Tractor, Car, SUV, and Marine Batteries : Automotive

Yes I have an 8 amp by Schumacher after charging it goes to trickle charge. Ok I will fire it up with just plugging it in and see what it does, I will know immediately if the issue is resolved. If it continues to go on and off then I know the FCIM is not the issue. I will follow those steps mentioned to load the asbuilt if it resolves the issues and I see the buttons not doing what they should do. I really wanted to buy that new 2020 FCIM but probably safer to get a 2018 FCIM. So will install the replacement hub and FCIM upon arrival. Then go from there. I took a look at the Fmods site and probably could do that but what if it goes wrong then more headaches but down the road it is a possibility. Thanks, Rich

Hi Chief and Bill happy to report both parts solved the issues. It does not require programming. The FCIM is plug and play. This case is now closed. I appreciate you both giving me advice and support. Very Happy I did not have to spend a small fortune with the dealer. Thanks, Rich
