Climate Control turns off and on and off and on

Hello. I used the tool to update my 2018 Ford Taurus SHO from 3.0.2 to the latest 3.4. Went very well. Maps all updated. I was also hoping the update would update the device that is responsible for the climate control. I read people have replaced the device, maybe entire unit, to fix the problem where the climate control cycles a lot and the panel becomes unresponsive sometimes. Some people have replaced them with the same problem claiming that they need to be updated.

Does this tool also update that? If not, is there one that would do this?

The SYNC updates only update the APIM OS. It has nothing to do with the HVAC module or the FCIM.

A lot of people reference the APIM such as:

“Replaced the control panel (with a used item), no fix.
Updated (via Ford Dealer) the APIM, no fix.”

Do you have any DTC’s? The FCIM could be going bad. Those touch compacitive ones are crap.

The CyanLabs Syn3 Updater you used doesn’t update the climate control module. For issues with climate control, contact a Ford dealership or authorized service center for potential updates or replacements.

Even then fcim wouldnt turn climate control on and off like that havc module could be at fault. Ford tech.

Guess we’ll never know because he said the panel and did not specify if it was all of it or just the HVAC part of it.
