If you are trying to play MP3 files from a USB device, the disk must be formatted NTFS. Otherwise, we need more clarification about what you are describing.

It actually works a bit better with exFat.
What format are the files in? .wav, mp3, flac, ?

Ford specifies NTFS for this application. Yes, it can work with exfat for certain applications and OS’s.
