I have the Ford Escape 2017 with Sync 3 (3.0) installed. I want to install 3.4 but dont want to lose my abilty to use the ford app to remote start. Does cyanlabs Sync 3.4 updater work with the ford app or will i lose that abilty?

When you perform the reformat to go to 3.4.x (you CANNOT go back to 3.0 once you do this) it clears the authorization for your phone.
You’ll need to perform the reconnect steps in the FordApp just like you did when you first got the car.

Ford will know it’s been updated. It will show them in Oasis what version it is on and when it was installed. They have several ways of their servers are updated(TCU, Wi-Fi & FDRS), Ford does not care though and they will continue to only offer updates for the old versions based on your VIN. Your Ford Pass will continue to work fine reguardless.
Thank you, i guess slightly off topic. but if they can see that the ford car is using the latest version, and they themselves don’t support it for that car, why wouldn’t they just offer the update themselves on the car officially OR just prevent the update from being installed at all?

, Well and some small reasons that have to do with compatability.
thank you both, took 27 mins and works perfectly. didn’t even need to reconnect the ford app either! one less thing to worry about. new software does seem faster than 2.0! i must have been 8+ years out of date!
If you did a Master Reset after the install, which is highly recommended, it would disconnect Fordpass causing you to have to reconnect it.
