Error every single time

Hey all,
I’ve been trying for about 2 weeks now to upgrade from 2.2.16280 to, well to anything. My first attempts were through the official Ford Owners site where they send you the link…multiple attempts, but it would do its thing for an hour or so then say it failed.
Then I tried this site, and no matter what version I try to upgrade to I get the orange death screen where it says "Error in 5U5T-14G381-ET_1627475308000.TAR.GZ : PKG_ERR03. The numbers change obviously with the different versions, but it’s the same each time…2 minutes in and bam.
Is exFAT the right format for Australia? The download from Ford said it needed to be FAT32.
I think I’m following every step meticulously, but what am I missing?
I’ve also noticed that when it is downloading and verifying, it will often have a couple of attempts at the file that then displays as the error.
Can it be manually downloaded?

The Ford version is not Sync 3.4 for your vehicle, but 3.0.20204.

ExFat is correct for this.
Looks like you have an issue with the downloads. You can get the files directly thru the site here without using the app. SYNC 3 APIM Software (IVSU) Database - CyanLabs
However, looking at the log file, the issue is not the downloads, but the USB. You clearly have a bad USB, as the copy is failing for many of the files. This will cause the issues you are having. Try another USB.

You log file states that the previous version is 3.4.21194, but in your post you say 2.2.16280. Which is correct?

Definitely 2.2.16280…I’ve been clicking “yes” on the final window that asks if you want to call your current version the one you just downloaded.
I also noticed in the log that it’s been reformatting the USB to FAT32 once the initial clicking is done. I’ve just downloaded everything again but skipped the reformatting bit this time. I’ll give it a bash in the morning.

Out of curiosity, what type of device are you using?.
Is it a thumb drive?, I’m not familiar with the brand.
Make sure to use only pen/thumb drives, not disks.

I agree with the previous assessment: I think you have a faulty USB device.
The fact the error appears on multiple files points towards that conclusion.

Does the car have multiple USB ports?. If so, have you tried them all?.

Yeah it’s a thumb drive.
This morning’s attempt failed as well…it always seems the be the APPS file in the reformat.lst folder; APPS=4U5T-14G381-AN_1552583626000.TAR.GZ

I’ll see if I can get a new thumbdrive today.

When you create the new usb, can you post the log for the log creation?
I’ve just noticed that the log you provided shows 2 apps reference in the reformat.lst file…

Glad it worked.

Something I didn’t pick up from your failed USB’s log, is the amount of time it took for it to be created. Such slow speeds are also indicative of a faulty or low quality drive.
