EU / C-Max 2019 / NAV / Sync 3 Update 3.0 -> 3.4

Hello everyone.
I bought a Ford C-Max built in 2019 (04/2019) a few days ago. Initially Sync 3 version 3.0.18025 was installed.
I have successfully updated the system to Sync 3 3.0.23219 via the Ford website and also successfully installed the updated maps.
I would now like to update the system to 3.4.
After I have created the Interrogator USB drive, the Sync3 Updater shows me that the car is a My20.
I thought that only the cars built from 2020 onwards have this configuration.
Now I’m a bit confused and worried whether it’s such a good idea to update.

Is there any way I can find out whether the update will really brick my device?

Regards,
Petros

Hello.

MY20 refers to the Sync3 system hardware, not the car. You can have MY20 hardware on a vehicle from 2016.

The tool is telling you your unit is MY20, I’m not sure why you are confused.
If the tool flagged it as MY20, keep MY20 protection enabled. You won’t be able to use the tool for upgrading your unit.

By the way, what’s the APIM model?.

You can look into jailbreaking the unit and using theirs universal reformat package which can handle MY20 hardware. (we do not support jailbraking).
