Ford SYNC Black Screen

Hello,
I tried to update my ford SYNC unit and my screen become completely black. When I pluged the USB with the new version the system restart and nothing append next.
After that i plug usb with Interrogator Log Utility on my car but I didn’t receive any info. I also tried system reset, after 5-10s the light of SYNC button and USB turn on but not the screen.
What can I do now ?

Hello.

Do you have forscan and an adapter?

Have you checked for MY20 hardware?.
What you are describing seems to relate to a reformat on MY20 hardware, which you can’t do.

If the screen is black, the only way to check is by gaining access to the unit’s back, there’s a sticker there with a model and date… that’s a good starting point…

My APIM module was replaced (and I didn’t now about this) and the new one has been manufactured in 2023. I think he is bricked now and I need a new one.

Likely bricked, as that is a Ford Service Replacement APIM, MY20+. You could check out FMods to see if their method will repair it.

I think I have to replace it. To recap what I need to do when replacing the unit, I have to :

Buy a used APIM unit ( which one ? 14G371 model ? or exactly the same number JK2T-14G371-FDD ? )
Put it in my car and reload ASBuilt data with FORScan
Update it with Cyanlabs if it’s not a MY20 version

Do not buy the same one.
See if you can find a K series, part number will start with a K. These are pretty reliable and usually not MY20+.and built before Sept 2019.

Thank you for the image, sadly, it’s MY20 hardware and it’s now bricked.

Not that it’s going to help now, but next time try using Syn3updater 's detection system if you have any doubt, since it would had flagged the unit as MY20 and prevented the creation of a reformat USB:

Your options are limited:

try reviving it with GitHub - bigunclemax/sync3flash: Ford Sync 3 reformat flash tool (requires knowledge and specialized equipment)
have someone else recover it
replace it
