Ford transit Sync 0 to Sync 3 - AUDIO PROBLEMS

I’ve retrofitted Sync 3 in my Ford Transit 2016. The van didn’t have sync before, it had the tiny 4" matrix dot display with the APIM mounted behind the dashboard. Everything looks and works correctly except the audio for carplay/AA and bluetooth.

When I’m using bluetooth audio or Carplay/AA, if I turn up the volume I can eventually hear hissing/crackling. The wiring all looks to be correct to the diagrams found on Fords service portal. I’ve tried multiple coding configurations (taken from donor vehicles and from the cyanlabs database. I’ve tried multiple ACMs and multiple APIMs.

I’ve tried Sync 3.x and Sync 3.4

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

SYNC Region: EU

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: Retrofit

Old SYNC Version: 1.0

New SYNC Version: 3.0

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
No errors relating to audio.

Update Method: Official Ford

Where did you source the custom AB files from?
Post the AB for both the APIM and the ACM.

Is it the ABT file you need?

If so here’s the APIM of my van and the complete file from the donor van
SYNC 3 RETROFIT TRANSIT WF0RXXWPGRFJ01006_APIM_20250416_150540.abt (401 Bytes)
WF0RXXWPGRGS42424.ab (21.3 KB)

Sounds like you are missing the Media GW wiring at pins 12/13 at the APIM.
APIM Connector Versions.pdf (201.5 KB)

Pins 12 and 13 are shown as the microphone input

How does the rest of the wiring lime up? Specifically for the connections to the ACM.

All of the relevant APIM wiring in the ford schematic matches with the APIM connector versions document you attached, and the wiring in front of me also matches the diagrams

The bleeps/chirps from pressing buttons on the APIM plays through the speakers, but there’s no sound from carplay/bluetooth

Even the “search for your vehicle” voice when pairing a Bluetooth device works through the speakers

Well I feel rather silly..

Hidden option in BCM for touchscreen, corrected and now functioning properly. Thanks for the input guys! Appreciate your time.

That’s all right, that setting is often missed…good job.
