i work at a pick yard, and a 2018 focus came in with a sync 3 nav system and acm intact and operational…
i tried to make the can sim cable but i may have done wrong… i have the GWM, BCM, and body and dash harness, as well as center module harness for the usb port… i have the gps module, vehicle antenna, antenna cable, basically everything but the ecu and engine harness, but i have basically all cables and modules from the cabin… and i cant get the apim to even power flash the screen like my sync 2 apim does{which i still also havent gotten to boot}…
i have LOTS of wire and pins and crimps and everything, im an electrical installation specialist… so i can rewire my own harnesses if needed… just need the info to get me going with what i have if possible
he yscott, thanks for the reply…
i built my test cable based upon this exact link, but i cannot even get the screen to blink like my sync 2 apim i have, i cant get either sync 2 or sync 3 to actually boot…
i used a different stm to can converter tho… maybe that is it ?
or shouldnt matter?? i used this one ( TJA1051 )
but the stm32 bluepill is a legit one, not a clone, and im using a mateksys FPV 36v to 5v/9v selectable BEC to power the buepill and can converter
TJA1051 vs TJA1050 does not matter.
Triple check all of your wiring connections and 12vdc/5vdc power with a multi-meter.
Make sure your can high and can low are not hooked up in reverse.
If all else fails, try the APIM + screen inside a car and see if it powers up that way. Then you could isolate the issue to the APIM, or to the test device.
