Heated seats turning on automatically in winter temperatures

Hello, I have a 2017 Mustang (EU) that comes with heated/cooled seats, as the winter months started. I’ve noticed that my heated seat comes on automatically when I button start the car and it senses temperature below certain threshold. It’s been acting weird, sometimes it turns it on at 2C and sometimes it doesn’t when its -7Celsius. Since it’s pretty random, I was looking on how could I disable that behavior so I would rather be enabling heated seats by myself…

I did some research on Mustang forums and I found some information on that topic, that in the Instrument Panel cluster, there are Vehicle Settings - Remote Start that allows to configure whether Heated seats/Wheel should be left on Auto/Off. They say it also modifies behavior when the car is started normally through the push button and not only Remote Start so I think its connected.

Here comes the first problem, since my Mustang is EU, those don’t have Remote Start feature at all, so I don’t have option to disable that setting as my car is not equipped with that menu in my IPC if that makes sense.

Then I did more digging and found, it’s possible to reveal/configure settings straight in the APIM, addresses 7D0-09-xx, specifically I found in database settings like:
Climate Auto Seats on 7D0-09-04 and Remote Start - driver seat on 7D0-09-01…

The problem is my APIM is 2017 that uses older firmware so I don’t think I have access to modify this AsBuilt address as there’s note APIM Strategy firmware 1U5T-14G374-E* is needed…

Maybe someone who’s experienced with AsBuilt here could help me in what module could I disable that setting manually without needing to enabling menus for it? Thanks a lot!

There should be an option in your instrument panel under remote start to have seats on auto or not.

My EU Mustang doesn’t have remote start so I don’t have this option in my cluster. Only US Mustangs do. That’s why I’m looking how to disable that feature manually with some AsBuilt change.

The menu setting will be in the IPC asbuilt, labeled as Remote Start Climate Settings. This will have the option to control the seat climate settings.

The APIM settings only mimic the IPC settings, so this won’t do anything for you. You could enable the IPC menu with FORScan, set the menus accordingly, then disable the remote start menu again. This might work.

Thanks for the tip. I have tried enabling Remote Start menus, there was Remote Start - Climate Control, Seats, even Remote start - feature, but even after everything in the IPC was enabled the menu was just not appearing on cluster… I guess there is more into it to get it enabled, since EU car has no hardware for remote starting.

However, as time passed I got some news and maybe I was wrong all the time as it’s not related to this setting. I found DTC related to SCME module, think it might be my battery, it’s been pretty rough this winter and had once problem with starting. That would explain the inconsistent behavior and why this ‘issue’ happens in the winter more… I still run 2017 battery that came from factory, I guess I should get a new one this year.
