Help with Sync 3.4 Update

So my 2019 F-150 says it’s currently in 23088 version. I’ve tried to upgrade to 23188 but it just won’t work. I keep getting INSTL_ERR_12. I’ve tried to downgrade and reformat and get the same msg. I’ve tried a Master Reset but freezes my screen and have to so a soft reset to get unstuck. I’ve used FORscan to reset my APIM but that didn’t work either.

I called Ford CS and they said their system says I’m in version 23188 but also says that the update failed and also that 23088 version doesn’t exist and don’t know why thats displayed as my current version.

This problem happened when I did an OTA update while I was out and about. There was a msg that popped up saying the changes would take effect next time I started my vehicle. Well…next time I did my BT devices were gone. Like my paired phone, wireless Apple CarPlay. My phone I have to re-pair every time I restart. Apple CarPlay (Wireless) works but won’t display on my screen but connects to my phone but only through the wifi feature.

So Ford is saying that I need to take my truck in but I have to pay for this. As this seems to have happened because of THEIR update, I don’t feel that I should have to pay for it.

Am I missing something to fix this? I’ve tried everything that I can think of.

Both 22251 and 23088 have a bug in which the rwdata partition gets full and the unit exhibits that behavior. All known methods for recovery are located here → APIM Sync Settings Not Saving, VER_ERR08 Errors, Cannot Perform Master Reset or Upgrades/Updates (Solved)

If none of those work, we do not have anything else to recommend.
A user recently shared his experienced, where after 10-20 minutes of trying the SR → SR → MR combo the MR completed correctly, which enabled him to run the rwdata cleaner and then go to the latest version (which has the bug fixed).

Regardless of what Ford says version 3.4.23088 does exist. It appears that you are now trying to downgrade to 22251 which has known bugs anyway.
Perhaps your sync is getting confused now by Ford OTA updates whilst you are trying to upgrade/downgrade with Cyanlabs.
I suggest you try turning off auto wifi updates and wifi altogether and try updating through Cyanlabs to 3.4.23188 using 3.4.23088 as your curent version.
If this succeeds dont forget to perform a master reset.

Yes I have tried all of these ideas. I can’t do anything as I get an INSTL_ERR_12 every time I insert a USB drive with the files.

The log file I posted was just one that I just tried to do for a downgrade but that didn’t work either. Still the same error msg. Only thing I never tried was to soft reset for 10 mins to hope it would let me do a master reset. I haven’t gotten any other codes when putting in a USB.

Your goal should be running the official Ford tool to clear that partition, then upgrading to the latest version. You can also try removing the fuse or disconnecting the battery to see if that helps, but again, all known methods are located in that thread.
