Hey guys is there anyway to get Apple CarPlay working with a MY20 apim?

Last year I had a working pre-MY20 apim with sync 3.4 working but it had some small issues. Such as; always off time clock and the display mode switching back to auto. I took it into the dealer to fix this and they forced an update and bricked the apim. They installed a MY20 apim with sync 3.0 23219. I would appreciate any help with getting my CarPlay back due to being on my phone while driving is now illegal and heavily policed in my town.

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Non Nav

Manufacturer Year: MY20

Install Type: OEM

Old SYNC Version: 3.4

New SYNC Version: 3.0.23219

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
I have a error pop up saying incorrect usb hub installed. Please remove

Update Method: Official Ford

1st thing you have to update the USB module to an H series to get Car Play support.

2nd thing, 3.4.23188 on a non-NAV APIM can have some issues with non-3.4 native vehicles, solution is to drop down to 3.4.21265.

Wouldn’t this brick the MY20 apim?

No, you’re doing a build downgrade not a reformat.

Pick 3.4.23188 as current and 3.4.21265 as target.

You only need the app, not the boices or Gracenotes

Has anyone else done this? I just want to be 100% sure this is safe for the MY20.

Many, many times.

It was the common fix to rollback to 3.4.21265 to get around the RWDATA partition bug that didn’t get fixed until 3.4.23188.

I don’t think that will work for the OP as his replacement sync is on 3.0 and not 3.4.

OK let’s flip this then.

Normal fix for 3.0 is to downgrade the build to 2.2.17011 to get the Car Play support pieces reinstalled and then update back to 3.0.23219.

He needs to do this…
