Hello guys, I’m hoping some kind people can help me please…
I would like to create a log for my Ford 2020 Escape and find out what my true APIM is and if it can take maps… However, on Syn3 Updater I do not know what my model number is. So, I tried creating a log without entering a Model number, but when I put the usb into the car, the car says “Installation Failed Error Code: PKG_ERR04 Download files again and retry install…”
Apart from takeing the car apart to physically look at the APIM, is there another way I can find out what the APIM is?
If you don’t have factory NAV now you can’t make the APIM a fully functioning NAV APIM, in North America as an example a non-NAV only has 8Gb of storage va 32Gb for a NAV.
Since this is a MY2020 Escape if you have factory NAV the only way to update the maps is to either buy the package from Ford or to use the FMods universal reformatter tool.
Hello and thank you for your replies. I suspect the APIM cannot take NAV as I had the small 4" screen and I upgraded it to 8", (after a long story of being locked out). However, I recently had my phone stolen and I am curious to know for sure what APIM I have and how many GB it has, and it might be the rare/unlikely APIM that has 32Gb.
I do not know what you are doing, just create an interrogator log and run it against the unit.
Or try entering the bezel diagnostics menu on the car and see if it’s listed there (it should).
If you came from a 4" I can 1,000,000,000,000,000% guarantee you do not have a Nav capable 32Gb APIM. Even if you did you could not reformat a 2020+ APIM without bricking it.
I want to create an interrogator log. But I can not. Everything I try, I get the same result and same error code (above - PKG_ERR04).
Thank you for your suggestion to enter the [quote=“SaNdMaN, post:5, topic:14668, username:SaNdMaN”]
bezel diagnostics menu

I googled how to get into that and once in it told me my APIM Serial Number is VYBFOACC. When creating an Interrogator Log, I have tried doing with the “Enter model number” blank, I have tried putting in 14G371 and I have tried putting in that serial number. But no luck.
Please can you tell me what is the exact combination I need to put in for the APIM model number, or is it not working for another reason?
Hello, I have REALLY read the instructions, many times and tried many ways.
How can I enter the “14G371 model number of your APIM”, if I do not know what model I have?
Clicking “Check model” doesn’t work without me entering a model number.
“Enter the 14G371 model number of your APIM to manually check against our database to see if it’s likely to be MY20 or not, this is not 100% accurate, use with care.”
Thank you for your reply. That would work. However, I do not want to pull apart my dash. I just want to find out what my model number is so I can do an Interrogator log. On the bezel diagnostics I can see the APIM Serial Number is VYBFOACC.
Please do not take this the wrong way, but if by carefully reading the instructions you got that in order to create an interrogator log you need to already know the APIM model, please considering leaving your system as it is since you may really REALLY brick it.
You don’t even need that field to create an interrogator log… That field is LITERALLY as it says, to manually check if the APIM is MY20 or not if YOU ALREADY KNOW THE MODEL…
Thank you for confirming that I don’t need that field. I can see that this is a simple process and I easily “Prepare dive”. But when I plug the USB drive into the car I get that error message. I thought that error was to do with me leaving the “Enter Model Number” blank, or filled in incorrectly.
Do you know why I am getting that error on my car and how I can create an Interrogator Log?
