How long does the Interrogator USB take to run?

Hi there I am a new user… Ive been trying to run the Interrogator USB to get information on my unit. When I plug it in it just says “Updating System Software…” for as long as 2 hours. When I check for the log on the USB, there is nothing.

Please help?

It’s almost immediate, so it seems yours is stuck.

Are there any steps I can try to take to get it unstuck?

My car is a 2017 so I’m assuming my update will go fine as I don’t have the MY20 or whatever but I wanted to be safe.

Running 2.2 I would also assume it’s the stock APIM, but that’s just a guess.

What interrogator package are you running?

Thanks for the reply. I just downloaded Syn3 updater 2 days ago so I assume I am using the latest and greatest.

When I tried to make the USB to update to the latest Sync 3 version I got the big scary warning about bricking my unit if it was after 2020, Though knowing my unit is 2017 I chose the side of caution and was directed to create and run the interrogator USB, which I have tried 2-3 times now, all have just hanged at Updating System Software forever.

My current Sync 3 Version is 2.2 build 16280, and I am looking to upgrade to whatever the latest was, 3.4 (and change) I believe.

I hope that helps clarify.

That’s all good, but that’s not what I asked for.

I’ll ask it differently:

  • what version did you tell Syn3Updater you are currently running?.
  • check the USB’s root, share the autoinstall.lst file.

Also, what kind of device are you using?.

Ive attached the autoinstall.lst as well as a screenshot of my Syn3 Setup.

I am using a 32 GB USB 3.0 Thumb drive that’s relativity new.

What make? New means nothing if its Chinese junk.

That autoinstall file references an interrogator utility, it’s not a sync update file.

I bought a brand new Samsung 64 GB usb 3.0 drive, same thing, pop in usb, power on car “Updating System software” forever :frowning:

I wish I knew what I was doing wrong.

What kind of package are you trying to run? An interrogator one? A full upgrade one?

I am having the exact same issues as he.

2017 Expedition EL. Sync 3 version 2.0. Never run the update before and, like OP, wanted to do the interrogator since I bought this car used and have no clue of parts of the vehicle have been changed.

The Syn3 application installed the interrogator onto my thumb drive. I started the car up and plugged it in, but the process that should be relatively instantaneous (interrogator) just stayed forever.
