Thanks for your help! I’m trying to upgrade from sync 3.0 to sync 3.4. Vehicle is a 2016 Expedition in the US. I have tried to update both with new and old Ford USB in console. I have 2 thumb drives. One is a 32GB SanDisk and one is a 16GB generic brand. I have tried uploading with Ford website upgrade as well as just now with SYN3 updater. I always get the same message- "“installation has run out of space or does not work with this version”. I’m uncertain what to do next. Please help!

Have you read the documentation at Syn3 Updater - CyanLabs ? Yes. I am upgrading from 3.0 to 3.4 so I don’t think the “failure to update” turorial applies.
